ABOUT ME

I start Escape’ Design Studios, my special effects company, in 1999, just after leaving the military. I’ve been in business for about 10 years now. http://www.escape-design.com
I started Ritual Pictures as a separate project. Who knew it would become the partner company in a new corporation. While Escape’ Design Studios focus special effects, Ritual Pictures produces films—mainly mine. LOL
I like to think I’m an educated man. I’ve lived all over the world, and hold a couple of degrees. I have an Assoc. in Logistics (Community College of the Air Force), a BS in Psychology (Univ. of Maryland), a BS in English/Law (Weber State Univ.) and a MFA in Literature (Weber State Univ.)
I love the suspense genre’ although most of my work is done in horror.
I’ve worked on a number of Indie Films, and found that I prefer them over big budget films because egos seem to hinder most of those larger projects. You can see some of ... (read more)

WHAT MAKES ME DIFFERENT

When it comes to scenes of a graphic and violent nature, it takes more than an artistic vision to capture the intensity. To get realism, you need someone who can not only produce the shot, or effect, but someone who has seen it first hand.
My years as a Special Ops troop in the military gives me a edge. I've seen acts of violence, I've engaged in them. I've smelled blood, seen the dead, and killed the bad guy. I know what its like to be there, at that moment of engagement, so when I prepare a scene, or an actor, they are getting a realistic view of what it is like to be in that situation.
I believe thats what makes me different from most filmmakers--first hand knowledge.
