Our Story
We have just received a matching grant of up to $10,000 from The California Council for the Humanities to create six issue driven modules from the award-winning documentary "Ripe for Change". The video modules, along with the feature film "Ripe for Change", will be used to create a new DVD that will be given free of charge to over 120 partner organizations who are working to build a sustainable American agriculture and food system. Once the DVDs are ready we will host three "Train the Trainers" workshops in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Fresno to show the staff of organizations like The Center for Ecoliteracy, Community Alliance with Family and SlowFood, how to use the video modules to engage, educate and motive their staff and members to take action. What We Need
All donations, large or small, will be greatly received, though we are not just looking for you to put your hand in your pocket. Getting as many people involved is what will make this project the success it deserves to be. So any extra coverage we can attain will go towards pushing the message to a greater audience. Tell your friends, family, co-workers, share on Facebook, tweet, re-tweet and then tweet some more.
All donations will be carefully utilized in several areas of the project -
- Editing six new video modules from the film "Ripe for Change" including "The Edible Schoolyard" featuring Alice Waters and David Mas Masumoto; "Oil and Agriculture" featuring Richard Heinberg, "Atrazine and the Environment featuring Tyrone Hayes, The Triple Bottom Line featuring Paul Dolan, "Maria's Story: featuring Maria Inez Catalon and GMO's and Globalization" with physicist and environmental activist Vandana Shiva.
- Compressing multiple digital versions of the video modules for the web and email.
- Manufacturing 1,000
DVD's we will distribute for free at the workshops.
- Hosting three seperate "Train the Trainers" programs in SF, LA, and Fresno that will bring together over 120 partner organizations.
All donations will be matched dollar for dollar by The California Council for the Humanities and are TAX DEDUCTIBLE.
The Impact
Taking the message from the film, carefully edited down into six modules, we plan to develop and convene a Train the Trainer workshop that can be customized for delivery in three different communities: San Francisco, Fresno and Los Angeles. Each workshop will be designed to meet the unique and specific needs of each of the three cities.
We will be providing these digital tools to over 120 California organizations working to build a sustainable world. We will also be offering compressed digital versions on websites and for inclusion in digital emails and newsletters. There is no charge to the organizations for the DVDs or the digital assets.
We believe that we have a worthwhile message and a unique platform in which to educate, teach and inform numerous individuals, groups and organizations.
