Our Story

"Prodigy detective Mitsuko Unagi is on the hunt for a notorious serial killer known only as "Eleven".
10 years earlier, on February 29th 1996, a series of murders began, involving 11 randomly selected victims killed simultaneously in various parts of Tokyo.
The killings continue over the next decade, leaving the police with no evidence, no witnesses, and the killer always one step ahead.
But now something has changed, and the killer has changed his pattern, giving Detective Unagi the one chance to finally get closer to solving the mystery of the Random 11"

Random 11 is an independent production based in the UK. the film was written, and being directed/produced by film maker Tony Sebastian Ukpo and starring Haruka Abe. This particular project has been on the cards for about a year. The teaser trailer for the film was featured on Twitch film last September, and since then a fair bit of buzz has been generated around the project. The film is a two part story, with this first film being partly used as a way to raise money and interest in the second part of the story.
We are going at it totally for the love of film, and pulling every possible resource to get it made. Shooting begins in March, and we need YOUR help to make sure the film gets out there.

The Impact

We hope that the release of this film will help to inspire and motivate other independent film makers out there who have an idea and the guts to punch it forward without waiting for a hand out. We also hope that it inspires people in the industry to be able to take independent film makers seriously, and not be afraid to take a chance, because there are so many good ideas out there either frozen by fear of getting a foot in the door with "low budget" projects, or a do-it-by-the-book mentality.

The film is happening, no matter what. And it is in this same spirit, that I would like to invite you all to participate in this event with us. To help bring an original story to the world, and show them that there is an interest in independent film, and people out there with the conviction to make things happen where no one else would dare to try. There is no risk, only the knowledge that helped us make a stand and to try and make something out of an original idea and helped bring something you were interested in to the screen, and prove to people that low budget, doesn't mean low quality. Indie doesn't mean amateur...Indie means heart! 

What We Need & What You Get

This campaign is for production costs, being able to pay our very willing and generous actors and crew a little something, as well as paying for general costs of production and post-production as they come. We are practically shooting already, so any money that comes in now, will go straight into the costs of principal photography, and anything that comes afterwards will be put towards post-production. And after that, paying our cast and crew, and then marketing the film. We are raising money also for the eventual independent release of the film, for a UK premiere of 20-11-2011 (Nov 20th), and then moving on from there. If we cannot make a deal with theatres/cinemas, then we would have to pay to hire the screens, and so that is where your contributions come in.
The momentum has been rather good on the film so far, so we hope to maintain it, whatever the circumstances, and without assuming any interest from anywhere or anyone (but hoping for it of course).
If the film does get more interest from high paying sources or influential industry connections, then all of your contributions would have gone into the making of the film, and the production of it, getting it to this stage, and regardless of outside interest, we shall still aim for that independent release of 20-11-2011, because it would be our 21 gun salute to independence, and to everything making this film stands for. It's not just about the money, it's not about how it came about, it's about what really went into it, and that passion for something we can all feel proud of.
Even if we don't meet our goal, every little will help us to get that much closer to bringing the project to fruition, and you can say you were part of it (as well as have some nice production titles and credits to your name. and depending on how much you are able to give, a lot more. From copies of the film, to premiere tickets, memorabilia and props, and a unique frame captured from the film itself). 

Other Ways You Can Help

You might not have a single penny to contribute to this campaign, and that would be absolutely fine. Because you can contribute in ways that are just as important, such as getting the word out there about the film, about this campaign, and that my friends, would be the most valuable thing you could do for this film on top of the money we hope to raise. 

Spread it through here, spread it online, spread it by letter, by word of mouth, spread it by carrier pigeon, but get the word out there, so people come to see this film, so people demand it, so others have the opportunity to feel inspired to do the same.

It's always a struggle for film makers, even established ones, to get the support to make films that are even slightly against the grain, and to tell original stories in a creative way that attempts to push boundaries. It's our hope that this will be one of the films that might help change that for this generation of filmmaking and film makers.

So, we set off on a glorious journey, to see what awaits us on the other side, and whatever it is, we will have a finished film in tow by the end of the year. Thank you!
