Our StoryThe Ragged Wing Youth Ensemble is a committed group of East Bay Area teens who train in physical theater, design and arts management, write, direct, produce and perform in original plays, and apprentice with Ragged Wing�s professional productions. In addition to teaching youth about theater, we provide a safe and empowering environment where they learn professionalism, self-expression, collaboration, leadership skills, and how to turn their interests and talents into a sustainable career in the arts or beyond.
The GOALS of the RAGGED WING YOUTH ENSEMBLE are to:
- CULTIVATE high-level young artists with strong skills and a deep sense of commitment, spirit, and integrity.
- DEVELOP CONNECTIONS across schools, districts, grades, economic divides and racial differences.
- PROVIDE students with the tools for success in the academic and professional worlds.
Impact
Our goal is to raise $8000 by February 20. The money will be used to finance our scholarship fund, which enables youth from low-income families to join our Ensemble. Tuition for the full 16-week program is $800. Currently we have 16 students in the Ensemble, 90% of whom are on full or partial scholarship which speaks to the economic hardship in our local East Bay community. Our program is made stronger by the participation of students from various socioeconomic backgrounds. But in order for these talented young artists to participate, we need your help!
