Our Story
We were completely scheduled to shoot REM the last 2 weeks of August this past summer and due to the passing of my Aunt (Janet Holloway (54)) we had to halt production a week before shooting. One of the many fallouts was the loss of Sponsors and a few private investors who back out shortly thereafter. This most difficult decision I had to make was to not allow my faith in REM and my pride keep me from doing the responsible thing and halting the production. My professional credibility has been effected (to a degree) I know, but Im not one of those people who will ask people to work for nothing or one who will go through the entire production knowing we didnt have the funds necessary to pay everyone what had been discussed and agreed upon.
The Impact
What might initially seem like a romantic drama, REM is an empowerment film with lessons to be learned at every corner; a story dealing with the fact that it isnt that our hearts can love, but that we most often choose to direct that love (and energy) away from those weve commit to. Why do we do it? We wonder in this great modern civilization that we live in why we cant seem to make relationships work, when we forget the sacrifices that are required and instead choose to relish in the act of Falling In Love because its more enjoyable and doesnt require the work and discipline of a committed relationship. REM exposes these things for both of our characters and in hopes it will make our viewers reflect on their own lives and stop searching for what can be, and instead focus on what IS. If we focus on what IS well find a more meaningful connection than putting our time and efforts into something that May, Could have, or possible be. At this time with all the Cheating and lust-filled imagery on our TV and Screens today if were not able to make this film and get this message out there; whos going to stop us? Whos going to show us what were doing to ourselves and those we say we love? Big Budget films are after one thing, SAME-ISM, and in keeping things the same they can insure their profits from them remain the same and that you learn or change little if anything in yourself.
Im afraid if we dont complete this film the conversation it induces will NEVER happen, thats why we need your help!
What We Need & What You Get
We are looking to raise 30,000 to meet our final production budget goal of 50,000. Funds raised will go directly towards the hard costs of completing the film: Paying location fees, our sound designer, editor and licensing rights for music used in REM.
Other Ways You Can Help
If you're able to help us by contributing Great! If you cannot contribute by investing in our project you can help us by spreading the word, it doesn't take much, but the more people you share this with the closer we'll be to meeting out goal and begin creating a film that will changes lives!
