Synopsis:
Told as three short movies in two different time periods, RACING DAYLIGHT is the story of Sadie Stokes (MELISSA LEO) who’s returned to the family farm to care for her catatonic Grandma (LECLANCHE DURAND ). There have always been Stokes in Cedarsville. Sadie and Grandma are the last. Sadie’s life has been pretty colorless until the man appears in the mirror calls her “Anna!” and then fades away. As Sadie takes on the characteristics of her ancestor, Anna Stokes, she realizes that they both want the same thing, they both want Henry (DAVID STRATHAIRN) the farm’s idiosyncratic handyman/civil war junkie. Only Anna thinks Henry is her long lost Harry (DAVID STRATHAIRN).
This magical love story of hope and forgiveness is set against the backdrop of the Hudson River Valley, with light that glows from the inside out, and specifically the Shawangunk Ridge; home to Revolutionary war battles, the Underground Railroad, Native Americans and Dutch settlers.

| What makes RACING DAYLIGHT different:
3 short films tell one story in two different times. A film made by women who think, for women who think, and the men who think with them.

Hey all,
Happy-Merry! We’re doing well on the robot search engines which have ranked RACING DAYLIGHT in many top ten dvd lists of new releases. The reviews currently on Netflix are okay, but not necessarily reflective of a RACING DAYLIGHT audience.
If you’ve seen the film, liked it, and have a moment would you write a short review, a sentence or two would suffice, of RACING DAYLIGHT on its NETFLIX page? Frankly, the male perspective of the film amuses me, because they all think that the “Henry” film is funny and find it a jarrring turn from the other two ‘serious’ segments, while most women, who respond favorably, feel that “Sadie” is funny too, leaving “Edmund” to mull the world of spirit.
We’d love to know what you think. Thanks so much for your continued support of our-film-that-could (make its money back!!!).
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

HAPPY-MERRY from us here at RACING DAYLIGHT!
We’re trying an experiment. We’re asking folks on all of the social networking sites, on which we collectively interact, if you wouldn’t mind helping us boost our profile by requesting our film on Netflix, Blockbuster, or wherever you rent/buy/download media. We sure would appreciate it.
It’s a quirky mystery/love story with great actors, Academy Award nominee DAVID STRATHAIRN and MELISSA LEO, (Frozen River), and lovely settings. Broad appeal, simple and sweet. Magical realism.
Be glad to do the same for you. |

RACING DAYLIGHT will have a one week theatrical run at its home theater, the ROSENDALE THEATER, Rosendale, NY, where the film premiered in May of 2007, as a special screening of the WOODSTOCK FILM FESTIVAL, underwritten by a grant from Assemblyman Kevin Cahill.
This, Spirit Award qualifying, run will take place December 12-18, 5pm nightly.
Thanks so much to Michael Cacchio and Uncle Tony Cacchio, of the ROSENDALE THEATER, for their unflagging support of truly independent film. |
