What We Are Doing:
We've been trying to make Billi & Theodore for the past couple of years. This story of an abused man returning to his lesbian best friend who he hasn't seen for three years, seeking help to end it with his mentally-unstable girlfriend is one we've longed to tell. Thankfully, with help from an IndieGoGo campaign we ran late last year/early this year and from countless people close to the filmmakers, we went into production in early March of 2011 and wrapped three weeks later. Now, we gotta finish this thing! Hopefully, you can help.
Thanks to IndieGoGo and our last campaign, we received attention from a distribution company within MTV called MTV New Media. They want to see the completed film with interest in possible acquisition. We need to finish the film if for no other reason than to get it in their hands. It's a huge opportunity we hope to take full advantage of.
What's So Great About This Film?
The above teaser gives you a feel for the overall story. This is a roadtrip film about the importance of friendship and rediscovering it when it's lost. It's about presenting a male and female relationship that is completely platonic and not romantic. It shows a gay character in a light where that aspect of her personality is not the focus of the plot and she doesn't magically transform into a straight character to become romantically involved with the lead guy. This is a dramatic comedy that follows a storyline that you might have seen before, but presents it in new and interesting ways with characters you'll never forget.
Who Are You People?
We're a team of award winning filmmakers and actors who have worked on
various projects including Friday Night Lights, Spy Kids 4, Predators, and
various commercials and music videos for bands like The Elms and The
Band Perry. For most of us, this is our first time taking the reigns of
our various roles on a feature film and with all of our powers
combined, we have shot a film with a lot of heart and talent behind it.
What We Need & What You Get
For this final portion of fundraising, we're trying to raise a total of $5,000. With this money, we'll be able to cover the costs of certain aspects of the editing of the film, various promotional materials, film festival fees, and desired song rights. If we reach our goal, we will be able to make this film look and sound the best that it can along with submitting it to all the necessary film festivals. On top of that, we'll be able to promote the film properly to build interest.
If we are unable to reach our goal, the money raised will still be put towards these aspects of post and will be a huge help no matter the circumstances.
