Our Story

Focusing on a corner lot in one of North Philadelphia's poorest neighborhoods, we are working towards building and maintaining a mini-farm to serve the community. It will not only provide fresh crops for the surrounding residents, but will also beautify the neglected land. We are focusing on potatoes because of the simplicity in maintaining these crops.

The Impact

The development of a mini-farm will provide:
-Members of the community with a food source
-Clean community green space
-Youth agricultural education opportunities

What We Need & What You Get

So far we have received:

-Permission to use the land

-Lumber for the garden beds

-Partial fencing

-Bricks for fire pit

-Birdhouses

The $500 dollars will go towards:

-Hardware (Shovels, Wheelbarrels, Etc.)

-Soil

-Fencing

Other Ways You Can Help

We are always looking for volunteers to help out with the development and maintenance of our soon to be mini-farm.  Groups and organizations are welcomed to come out and support.  If you are interested in volunteering with us please contact: Andrew.Deussing@temple.edu
