Our Story

NEW SHOW!

Based entirely on true events, this new musical is brimming with questions of faith, loss, salvation, love and immortality. Peter and I tells the story of the mysteries surrounding the life and death of Michael Llewelyn Davies; one of the boys who inspired J.M. Barrie to create the character of Peter Pan in his classic tale, Peter and Wendy.  Throughout the course of the story, he falls in love with a fellow classmate, Rupert Buxton, and the two have a sordid and ultimately tragic affair.  Michael's journey with is woven together with flashbacks from his past, including time with Sylvia Llewelyn Davies (his mother) and J.M. Barrie, in counterpoint with the famous tale of Peter and Wendy. The piece explores the clash between fantasy and reality; the inertia that is a tragic necessity of our everyday lives, but also threatens to take over our dreams. Written by Matte OBrien and Matt Vinson, Peter and I is a new musical chosen as part of 2011s Araca Project.

NEW PROGRAM!

The Araca Project is a program created by The Araca Group to allow emerging theatre artists to experience producing through an exciting production intensive in June 2011, culminating in a two-week run at the American Theater for Actorsmid-October. The mission of the Project, according to The Araca Group, is to give artists a pride of ownership in their careers by providing a forum which both manifests their artistic visions as well as galvanizes classroom theory with real-world action. The producers of this project include: Alex Alcheh, Emily Batsford, Lee Ann Gullie, Becky Leifman, Pat Murney, Justin Nichols, and Rope Swing Entertainment. The opportunity to collaborate with other emerging artists to create a brand new production under the guiding eye of seasoned professionals is an opportunity that does not present itself often.

NEW PRODUCERS!
The Peter and I production team consists of a team of eager, young producers. For many, this is their first time producing in NYC.  After a producing intensive with The Araca Group, the producers feel ready to take on this challenge.  The enthusiasm for the new musical is pouring out of them and they can't wait to share this story with you.

NEW SUPPORT!
We need the support of our family, friends, teachers, acquaintances, future collaborators, colleagues, and everyone we know.  Every dollar will help to secure the development and future of this production.  As you donate, we will be posting videos of rehearsals, pictures of the cast, and exciting relevant information for our supporters near and far.  Please consider contributing to this beautifully written, innovative musical that surely will sweep you off your feet from the first note to the last chord.
