After fiddling with writing projects for a couple of years, I took my first screenwriting workshop in 2007 with Pilar Alessandra of On The Page Consulting and haven’t looked back since. In 2008, my screenplay, “Darkness Knows The Night”, won the 2008 Action On Film International Film Festival Best Drama Award. To learn more about film, I decided I needed to make one. So, in 2008, Paisley Media was formed and my friends nurtured me through a three minute short, “One Pez Short Of A Pick-Up”, produced in response to the 2008 Broad Humor Film Festival Legacy Challenge. So far, 2009 has been all about my first real attempt at a short film. Potluck, all 10 minutes and 29 seconds of it, is the first time I’ve really produced and directed a project I’ve written from inception to conclusion. Keep an eye on the project page to see where you can find us. I’ll be listing the festival pages that accept us. I can say I’ll be returning to the 2009 Action On Film International Film Festival this summer. Not only are they playing Potluck, but they’re awarding me one of four Women of Independent Film Awards. I’m honored that they think I’ve got the tools to make my way in the industry.
Paisley Media is named for my father’s home town. I’m blessed with wonderful parents. I hope they like what their love, encouragement and patience is bringing to fruition. I dream that, one day, they can join a packed theatre to see both my name and the company name on a feature film opening sequence.
