I'm Lis Fies, the filmmaker of the feature thriller THE COMMUNE, co-founder of genre film festival BleedFest, and the VP of Programming at The Bijou Channel. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2383130/
I've had the story idea for PSYCHOSEXUAL rattling around in my brain for seventeen years. Last year I felt thrilled to shoot the opening 10 minutes as a short which will premier at Horrible Imaginings in San Diego on February 12th, 2011. (The perks referring to the "short" are about this PSYCHOSEXUAL short movie.)
PSYCHOSEXUAL the short turned out so well that my sister Brenda Fies is producing PSYCHOSEXUAL - the feature. Our brilliant lead is Christina Wickers (CONSUMED short, 2010...the one with Hero), starring as the main suspect who must find the real killer to prove her own innocence. I'm also planning on including popular stars of our previous shorts and feature, including David Lago, little Kylie Word of DISTRAUGHT, and of course everyone's favorite scene-stealer, Hero, who may or may not die again on camera. He is male, and anyone male is in danger in this film...
...because the premise of PSYCHOSEXUAL is to reverse the gender roles of the prototypical slasher/detective movie. Everything will be the same...same erotic kills, same cheesy dialogue, same slovenly middle-aged detective with a bewildering pick of fantastic lovers...Puerile feminist exercise, or a big bag of awesomesauce? I'm not sure. I know everyone involved is having a heck of a lot of fun, and the resulting movie is still freakishly frightening and suspenseful.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Please partner with the Psycho Team so that our amazing menfolk can understand what it's like for women to watch this kind of scopophilic fantasy about themselves the last forty years...and because we really really want to have enough money to film a reverse gender strip club scene. Lago owes me a butt shot.
YOU'RE PROVIDING THE CHANCE TO MAKE HISTORY
Or of course, you could let down the womenfolk and not be a part of the fun...we'll still make the movie. It will just take a lot more weekends, and honestly, look less rad. Sigh. We're not making a movie to make a buck...we're making a movie to make a difference. With your help, we plan to have the movie done summer 2011. Without it, we're talking Buck Rogers future talk.
SAVE US....
I need funding to pay for equipment rentals, locations, a plane ticket for David Lago, costumes, food for the actors and crew, editing software and backup hard drives, etc. This is a lean no budget feature film; the money won't be spent in frivolity but will be evident in the quality you see on the screen. The bloody, bloody screen.
My sister Brenda and I are shouldering the brunt of the production costs as usual, but don't be surprised if we make a second pitch later this spring for finishing funds, film festival entries and distribution. Because of IndieGoGo's policies, we've kept this initial number low so a higher percentage of your dollars will reach us if we have the incredibly appreciated good fortune of raising the full amount or more of this campaign. Just wanted to state that up front so you didn't feel fooled down the road or think we'd lucked into some get rich quick scheme by being indie filmmakers. Trust us...we haven't! ;p
We have some really cool perks, especialy for you lasses and lads who've always dreamed of being on the bigscreen. Even if you don't live in LA, there are opportunities to get your mug in the movie and earn an IMDb credit. Because who doesn't want to be part of the magic of Hollywood?
The perks are all a la carte, so mix and match to your heart's content!
(Posters and movie stills won't be ready to be mailed until after this fundraising campaign ends...probably early April. I'm slow, but I eventually make it to the post office).
IS THERE ANYTHING YOU NEED?
Let me know if you need answers to anything in order to help us, or if you've thought of a fun perk we should add!
