Who We Are:
We are a group of adults with Cerebral Palsy who are passionate and dedicated to empowerment, advocacy and education for people with CP and other disabilities. A registered Canadian charity since 1977, the goal of the Voice of the Cerebral Palsied of Greater Vancouver is to give people a voice who otherwise might not be heard.
We assist individuals meet their own unique needs as well as advocate for issues of global concern to the disabled community. We often partner with other disability groups on issues of common concern. There is strength in numbers.
The Intention:
We must move to a new office space by June 30, 2011, or shortly after, because the building we are in is being demolished. We have a very limited operating budget. We are raising money to cover the cost of the move so that we can continue providing vital services. The move is an unexpected expense which we cannot cover without sacrificing services. In particular, we will have to stop paying Honoria to key disabled volunteer staff who keep the office running.
Our office is central to the operation of our charity. We are an accessible, welcoming space used for everything from board meetings to client consultation and counseling. It is also our publishing center where we collaborate on our newsletter and resource guides. We would be lost without it and wish to transition to our new space as smoothly as possible.
Your Contribution:

Team on This Campaign:
-
Laurette YelleLaurette Yelle. Assistant Executive Director. I passionately believe that people with CP, and other disabilities, can and do excel! I assist clients, attend meetings with politicians, disability groups, write on issues affecting people with disabilities, work with professionals in the field and raise public awareness of disability issues. I’ve written three resource guides for the disabled about home support, financial trusts and access to government funded programs for home care support.
-
Yoshinori TanabeYoshinori Tanabe. Executive Director. I see an urgent need for a consumer controlled organization for people with CP. I believe in self determination and have helped create four disability societies. I sit on a variety of boards and committees. As Executive Director I update the board on the activities of the VCP and determine the goals of the society in consultation with the board. I meet with people with CP and other disabilities and confer with other disability groups and politicians.
