"Off the Leash" is a live action puppet web series that takes place in
Hao Long Studios. This is where Boris, our bitter main
character, sacrifices his crew's integrity in order to complete their
animations within an insane time frame. Hao
Long Studios now only produces one show on a regular basis - The Huggie
Bunnies, which is
currently the worst running children's show on network. In fact, the
show is so bad, Semi-Popular Web Blogger Du Chomp has made it his
mission to destroy the
Huggie Bunnies so that our society's youth can no longer be subjected to
the
crap presented in that dreadful show.
Will Boris and his crew complete the task at hand, or will the outrageous demands from network get the best of Hao Long Studios? Can Du Chomp put an end to the Huggie Bunny madness? Find out as we go "Off the Leash."
Our goal with this show is to create something that everyone can relate to and push it to the millionth degree. For example, have you ever heard of the phrase "my bosses head exploded"? In "Off the Leash", we will LITERALLY blow up a head. We will also focus on the one thing people seem to forgo on a regular basis - integrity. Seriously, how many times have you put your ego aside because your boss wanted something lame instead? And how many times have those lame things worked out? The situations presented in this show might take place in an Animation Studio, but they can be applied anywhere.
So why do we need your help? We need $6,000 to build sets and puppets so we can film our first season.
The team attached to "Off the Leash" might be young, but we have a lot of credentials. Walter Wertz, the head writer, has been doing coverage work for various film companies all over the country for the last three years. Rachel Gitlevich, our director, has just completed her internship on the Comedy Central show Ugly Americans and she has shown a film at the Nicktoon's Film Festival. Lastly, Brian Lonano and his production company Robot Hand has won two Telly Awards. "Off the Leash" has also been a finalist in the Philly Pitchfest 2010 contest, giving Rachel and myself the distinct honor to pitch our idea to several high profile production companies. This review can be read on our web site (linked below and in our video).
But the truth of the matter is, we all still work at dead end jobs that barely pay our bills. It took us six months to save for and shoot the one minute promo we have above. With the traction that has been created from Philly Pitchfest 2010, we want to get this project moving faster. We all believe that this project will succeed, but we need $6,000 to get this idea off the ground.
As a thank you for donating, we will be distributing stickers, pins, shirts, and personal thank yous on our web site and in our credits. But for $200, we will place a link to your website directly from your thank you on the web site. That is a permanent advertising spot on our web site for only $200! For a $1000 dollars, we will let you DESIGN YOUR OWN PUPPET! We have three extras moving in the background, and honestly, it does not matter what they are. That extra could be your puppet, which we will create and place in many scenes. For $5000, not only will we let you design an extra on the show, but we will let you KEEP THAT PUPPET! When we are done shooting, we will mail the puppet directly to your house so you can show your friends.
All the money raised on this website will go directly into the puppets and the sets. If you want to see more of what we are doing, you can check it out on our website at offtheleash-series.blogspot.com
And please, even if you cannot donate anything, tell as many people about this project as you can. You can post this page to your facebook, twitter, blog, or whatever forum of social networking you use. This project cannot raise $6000 if no one looks at the page, which is why we need you to talk it up. And who knows, maybe one of your friends would want to design one of our puppets :-)
