No Apologies

Following two Female Indigenous Footballers

Our Story

This is quite simply a story about two Australian Aboriginal girls who make it to the 2011 FIFA World Cup in Germany.

One learnt her ABCs in the back of the family four wheel drive as they traveled across the outback, the other attended a private school. One is from the West coast of Australia and the other is from the East coast. One is a goal keeper and the other is a striker.

We hope to weave these and other dichotomies into our story as we find out more about how they made it onto the biggest football stage there is, the World Cup.

The Impact

We believe in the talents of both Kyah and Lydia and that they will both become forces to be reckoned with in the footballing world. We want to be there to record their history in the making. Being Aboriginal their story needs to be recorded as it will undoubtedly inspire generations of young female footballers, as well as them being ideal role models for young Australian Aborigines.

What We Need & What You Get

For our last project (Standing on the Touchlines) we set a humble target of $2000 because in truth we only  found out about crowdfunding two weeks before we started filming.

This time with about three months to go we've decided to only ask for $6,000 on IndieGoGo to support other funding we are pursuing. It's also the postcode for Perth (sixthousand) Western Australia, where we are based. The approximate cost of the project is $55,000 and your IndieGoGo contribution will go towards helping us achieve this target.

How does one spend $55,000? Flights to Germany and back home, travel costs within Australia, the services of our cameramen in Australia and Chris who we will be taking to Germany, equipment, post production and marketing our documentary to festivals and any other interested networks. Oh and a beer or two of course after shooting, after all we are on location in Germany! Can you honestly begrudge us that?

Choose the level at which you would like to support us. We've tried to make it fair, but also realistic because we appreciate that you have worked hard for every dollar as well.

On offer at the top end are three Matilda's shirts signed by Kyah and Lydia, we'll even ask them to personalise them for you! Next at $100 is a copy of the DVD followed by $10 contributions for a postcard from Germany. For something in between - get your name on our tee's in Germany for only $50.

Other Ways You Can Help

Please share our project with friends, families and even strangers! Help us tell as many people about our IndieGoGo crowdfunder so that they too can be involved in recording a piece of Australian sporting history.

You can use the Facebook and Twitter buttons to get the word out.

And last but not least - thank you for visiting us on IndieGoGo
