The Story

MikeJ has been producing videos for ThatGuywiththeGlasses.com for 3 years now - and while he has a blast making those and will continue to for as long as they let him - he has been bursting to make more. Mike left university in 2006 after completing a film making course and has been itching to make a movie ever since.

Then, when the idea for NerdQuest came about, he knew he had the perfect story to tell for a small budget. So, Mike wrote the script, sent it to his ThatGuywiththeGlasses and YouTube colleagues and pre-production for a movie was born. So far, pre-production is well underway - even going as far as location scouting and make up tests (check out the images to see some!)

The Movie

NerdQuest is the story of four friends dragged along to a LARP (Live Action Role Play) event to celebrate a friends birthday. The event starts dull enough, but soon spirals in to terror as they're picked off one by one by a real serial killer.

The movie is a comedy horror with a similar tone to Shaun of the Dead. The movie isn't a 'Shameful Sequels' movie - it's a standalone story. There are no internet memes referenced here, so people outside of internetland will be able to watch and enjoy just as much as the TGWTG/Youtube community.

So far, myself - along with Mat 'Film Brain' Buck, Guru Larry, Welshy, Dr Ashens, Rick Bush and more! Others to be announced soon!

The Impact

The movie can only happen with your help. Whether you have $5 or $500 to spare, any contribution will be most welcomed. If you don't have the money to spare, then feel free to spread the word of the campaign across the internets!

What We Need & What You Get

We need £10,000 ($16,000) to make the movie. This needs to pay for the location (including woodland/campsite locations), the actors/crew expenses and accommodation during the shoot, props (including weapons, costumes, tents and a severed head!), music, equipment hire (including lighting, power, sound recording equipment).
