Nations of Peace, is an engaging, fast paced and visually stimulating documentary that nullifies the notion that “peace is for hippies” and instead proves that peace can benefit the ambitious while at the same time providing an egalitarian framework for society.
The documentary highlights the economic and social incentives of countries that have succeeded in creating peace. It presents the notion that peace is a pre-condition for the evolution of societies, and that peaceful countries are healthier and wealthier than violent ones.

Nations of Peace breaks down, from the perspective of peace experts in these countries, what peace is, why it is important, what the benefits of peace are, future concerns for peace, and what actions we can take now to avoid future potential conflicts.

The top five countries on the list are some of the wealthiest and most advanced countries in the world. The programme will delve into the governmental systems of these countries: examining the levels of representation, transparency, education, taxes, welfare, human rights, and trust in the government. Succinct examinations of each country’s path to peace shows how each of these countries have evolved from violence, distrust, and poverty to peace, transparency and prosperity.

Nations of Peace features high level politicians and peace experts from these countries:

Martin Mansergh, Minister of State: Ireland
Gerry Adams, President of Sinn Fein: Ireland
Dr. Matt Cannon, Chief Executive: Irish Peace Institute, Ireland
Diarmuid Martin, Archbishop: Dublin, Ireland
Kjell Bondevik, Former Prime Minister: Norway
Stein Tnnesson, Director: Peace Research Institute of Oslo, Norway
John Peder Egens, Secretary General: Amnesty International, Norway
Thorvald Stoltenberg, Director: Norwegian Red Cross, Norway
Helge Pharo, Advisor: Nobel Peace Institute, Norway
Mogens Lykketoft, Former Foreign Minister, Denmark
John Avery, Chairman: Danish Peace Institute, Denmark
Aase Sorenson, Director: Danish Center for Conflict Resolution, Denmark
Marian Hobbs and Keith Locke, Ministers of Parliament: New Zealand

A large portion of the documentary has been shot, according to the 2007 index, but as there have been updates in the last two years, we seek to visit two new countries to the top 5: Iceland and Austria, and also to interview additional politicians and peace experts in Northern Ireland, as we currently have representatives from one side of the N. Irish peace process.
