WHAT IS A SIDE KICK GIRL?

A SIDE KICK GIRL is a girl who hangs out with another girl who's more attractive than she is.  That girl usually ends up off to the side while her best friend gets all the attention.

SO WHAT'S THE SHOW ABOUT?

"SIDE KICK GIRLS" is a comedy web series about three average looking girls who each realize they've been living in the shadows of their more beautiful best friends.  But they've had enough.  They've decided to take down the glamorous girls (AKA The Sunshine Girls) and expose them for the ordinary girls they actually are. But can they do that without becoming Mean Girls in the process?  It's all a hilarious Catch 22. 

WHO'S A SIDE KICK GIRL?

I'm an NYU graduate and I've been working on two other web series for the past year.  It's been a lot of fun figuring out this whole New Media thing.  But when I heard about the NYU Web Series showcase I got very excited because it was a way to reconnect with my Alma Mater and perhaps some other NYU colleagues. 

I was also looking to jump into another project since at the time, I was smack in the middle of realizing that despite my best efforts I'd somehow become a side kick girl.  My friendship was in jeopardy because my self-esteem and ego were having a battle of wits.  Living in Los Angeles can be a frustrating ordeal and so far it's the only place where being a SIDE KICK GIRL became a very real thing for me.  And I didn't know how to deal with it.  This was the first time I'd ever felt like a side kick girl.  So what do I do?  Well, it was fight or flight.  I chose to write.  Which is how the idea for Side Kick Girls came about.

Comedy is the best way to deal with awkward situations.  And while writing this web series I've realized that at one time or another every girl has been a SIDE KICK GIRL.  If you've ever been that girl whose name no one can remember or who has the friend that's always offered the free drink while you stand there looking thirsty- then you can relate to SIDE KICK GIRLS.

FELLOW SIDE KICK GIRLS UNITE!!

I submitted this idea to the New York University Alumni Web Series Showcase and it became a finalist! Woo Hoo! So now my teammate, Stephanie Parrott, and I have to shoot three episodes by the end of December to meet our January deadline. Once all of the web series have been completed, NYU will showcase them as well as promote them at Sundance! It's a great opportunity for people to see our hard work as well as our writing and acting abilities.

We already have some funding but in order to shoot and edit this project and have it ready for NYU in the next two months, we need to raise a little more in order to pay the crew as well as to take care of post-production costs.  That's where YOU come in.  Any amount will help.  And the more people who know about what we're trying to do, the better! We've got 30 Days to raise $1500.  Stephanie and I believe it's possible!  We just need YOUR help!
