ME AND MY TEAM:

Hi, My name is Drew Daywalt, and for almost 3 years now, I’ve been making horror and dark fantasy short films online. I co-founded Fewdio entertainment and wrote and directed a majority of their films until I branched off this year to create new transmedia and mobile content in the horror and fantasy genre on my own with the DAYWALT FEAR FACTORY.

To date, my team has created over 40 short horror films, all with controlled budgets geared toward an online audience. The award winning films have been purchased and appeared on FEARnet, DREADCENTRAL.com, FANGORIA.com, SHOCKTILYOUDROP.com and CHILLER TV. We’ve garnered international acclaim at film festivals world wide. Last year, we won best horror short 2009 for my film BEDFELLOWS at the Universal Halloween Horror Nights/Chiller TV awards. Earlier this year I also completed a feature script for FANGORIA FILMS, to help relaunch that company’s filmed entertainment brand.

Additionally, my team and I, along with MWG Entertainment, created and produced the upcoming 20 episode horror webseries CAMERA OBSCURA, (you can see the trailer on our video link).

ABOUT THIS PROJECT:

NAKED is a period fantasy/horror film, to be shot from a 6 page script which I wrote. This particular production necessitates a trip to the mountains east of Los Angeles to film in the pine forests during the winter months. It also requires heavy amounts of digital and physical special creature FX in line with the style of Peter Jackson’s Lord of The Rings. There are period costumes (1736 A.D.) and an elaborate “goblin cave” interior set which will need to be built in Los Angeles.

Normally I write what I can film without this kind of elaborate production, but this one is special to my heart, and to the hearts of my team, who has been with me on all of the short films since the beginning.

All of the production team is working for free. None of us are taking any kind of fee whatsoever. This is truly a labor of love. The funding we are raising here will cover creature and make up effects, production equipment rentals, location costs, food and housing for the cast and crew for the mountain location shoot, art department costs, props, costumes and basically everything you will be seeing on screen.

When you see the film, you will be seeing exactly where your money went! :)

Our Physical FX are being done pro bono by Spfx guru Jeff Farley (Serpent & the Rainbow, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Tales from the Crypt, Puppetmaster films, Babylon Five, Tropic Thunder). He’s donating all his time and design work. The costs are just for raw materials to create the physical spfx.

Our Digital FX are being done by Peter Giliberti, top notch digital animator behind Sam Raimi’s SPIDERMAN films, Zack Snyders WATCHMEN and the soon to be released PRIEST.
