My Guy's Story

Hey Short Film Lovers!!!

We're making a heartfelt Gowan tribute film with good intention, a lot of heart, talented actors and a fantabulous crew, in an iconic location, at The Senator Diner... All this with little money and that's where you come in!

My Guy speaks to marginalized voices everywhere, byway of an original screenplay, dedicated to the underdog spirit. The script was written by up and coming Canadian screenwriting superstar, Dane Clark, it  will be directed by award winning filmmaker, Simonee Chichester and produced by NSI TV finalist Jordan Gross. The team are graduates of the prestigious Canadian Film Centre and individually and together they have made films that reach a dynamic and diverse audience, while developing their craft through numerous projects. My Guy will air on CBC Canadian Reflections - Canada's longest running short film program.  The film stars Canadian talents, Allana Harkin & Daniel Lupetina and our filmmaking journey can be followed on Facebook by visiting the movie's official fan page!

My Guy Synopsis

Can one conversation change everything? My Guy is a charming tale about two people, the music they love and the heart-to-heart conversation which brought about more, than either of them could expect. Shelly, thirty-seven, hasnt been happy lately. Shes going through a nasty divorce, missing her kids and working a dead end job. Life didnt turn out as she planned. On the other hand, Oliver, fifteen, has the world ahead of him. A sophomoric oddball, yet wise beyond his years, he believes anythings possible, including a date with Shelly. Shellys flattered but shell have to turn him down - without breaking his heart. In doing so, to her surprise, Oliver reopens hers and suddenly the world doesnt seem so grim.

My Guy's Impact | Why you should help?

We believe in the art and sustainability of short films  - They provide an excellent foundation for emerging  filmmakers (crew & actors alike) to nurture their craft. Furthermore, they invite audiences to experience diverse and unique stories, otherwise not possible to explore, through other - more - conventional mediums.  In Canada there are ONLY two broadcasters that help fund these types of movies - CBC & Bravo!FACT. And with diminishing funds and right winged policy makers not valuing art - short films are - literally- an endangered species. Broadcast licence fees are lower than they've eve been and filmmakers are in danger of not being able to practice their craft :(

As the filmmaking team of My Guy, we are lucky enough to have a small licence fee from CBC but the promised funds allotted to this movie are still not enough.  But we have faith that if we get the job started and mobilize people who care, byway of offering cool incentives - people - our audiences - YOU - will help us make a movie!

My Guy Needs | What you get for your donation?

We already have $5000.00 from our broadcaster but we need to raise $4000.00 for post-production costs. This is our breakdown of costs:

$1000.00 for the Edit of My Guy

$2000.00 for post:  Post Sound (including sound edit & mix) and Post Picture (including online services & colour correction) on My Guy

$500.00 for festival DVD's and festival applications of My Guy

$500.00 for the website, titling creation, poster image, DVD image of My Guy

Donations can be as low as 15 bucks and every bit helps! Some perks get you credits on IMDB - so lets get started and have some fun!
