Hi Friends - OK, album fundraiser take two!!! Our kickstarter fundraiser failed, but we want to give y'all a chance to help us out without the all-or-nothing restriction of our last Kickstarter campaign. Hence our new IndieGOGO fundraising campaign.... where all pledges WILL go through, regardless of a goal which was set too high. So, here are the changes in our funding plan: All funds will initially go toward making CDs. Then, if there is money leftover, we will make vinyl record. Judging by the results of the Kickstarter campaign, we will not get to the vinyl stage but the vinyl master has been made, so it is ready to go if Y'ALL want to make it happen.
THAT Damned Band's album Mutantstrosities is an epically wild and phantasmagoric acoustic musical exploration of the themes of Monsters, Mutants, and the Circus Sideshow Midway. This project will produce and promote the Goblin-Core album Mutantstrosities so that the music can go as far as it possibly can on its own merits, in formats compatible with the past, present, & future. The specific objectives of the project is to fund the physical manifestation of the album in the form of Vinyl records, CDs, and the aetherical manifestation in the form of digital downloads. The goal of the project is to promote independent music, music that breaks the mold, breaks open the head, and encourages the thought that magick is everywhere.
While THAT Damned Band produces wildly strange music, its members are down to earth, honest, hardworking artists who seek to make a living playing music in their own terms. THAT Damned Band produces its own albums, when the stars are right - all of the studio time used for the work of making this album was donated to the band by professional recording engineers who wanted to give back to the community, and support independent music and artists. This album would not have been made without the Tzedakah (fairness, charity in both Hebrew and Arabic) of the professionals that own these studios.
The principle of Tzedakah is understood to be not only charity, but helping in a way that encourages abundance for the receiver. THAT Damned Band's Mutantstrosities project does just that - by providing the funding to produce a product that will be used to generate a greater amount of revenue for the musicians involved. Having a well-crafted album for sale in multiple formats goes a long way to helping touring musicians survive and prosper.
We are not in it for the money. THAT Damned Band is a project that seeks to make music on our own terms, not the terms of the music industry. This album is crafted according to our standards, and it is our belief that the community will support our endeavors to make music better. Please give generously, and our premiums will reward you accordingly.
Mutantstrosities is THAT Damned Bands second release, and a much-needed follow-up to the slap-dash debut album self-titled. Mutantstrosities features songs that are newly written as well as old Goblincore favorites. The new album was crafted expertly at Salmineo Sound, Noise Farm Studio, Million Dollar Sound, and TreeWorld Recording in Austin, TX. THAT Damned Bands Mutantstrosities will be available for purchase through www.thatdamnedband.com, mail order, at shows, select online stores, and the occasional honest-to-god record shop.
Mutantstrosities will be released under a Creative Commons Attribution, Non-commercial license. This means that THAT Damned Band gives express permission for anyone to copy, cut-up, re-mix, play and share all of the contents - as long as they aren't making money off of it. Yes, that means that you can copy it for your friends, and give it to them for FREE - with THAT Damned Band's blessing! CDs: $2,347 - The first $2,347 of funding will go towards making CDs. 1,000 CDs in jewel case with 8x gatefold insert from
affordable sound, plus 500 promotional cds in cardboard envelope for
radio, magazine, and podcast review.
DOWNLOAD CARDS $585 - If we go over $2,347, we will use the next stage of funding to make download cards. 2,000 Download cards: 500 Vinyl bonus download
cards including all the tracks in the cd plus bonus track preview of
THAT Damned Bands next album, Songs of the Sea and Black Piracy. 1,500
Download cards for digital downloads of THAT Damned Bands album
Mutantstrosities plus Mutantstrosities Ringtones, which come with CD
and with download card.
VINYL RECORDS: $2,482.10 - If we make more than$2,932 in donations, the next stage of funding will go towards making 500 Vinyl records, including a limited edition run of 99 GLOW in the Dark Vinyl records, pressed though United Record Pressing.
