The
Story
This project aims to shed light on what happens from a music fans perspective.
The story will be told in a documentary, which will focus on the band
100 Monkeys and will follow their fans throughout their journeys. True to
100 Monkeys and their chosen name, it will showcase the "100th Monkey
Effect" that happens alongside their music. The Hundredth Monkey Effect
describes the instant, paranormal spreading of an idea or ability to the
remainder of a population once a certain portion of that population has heard
of the new idea or learned the new ability.
Kat Wojtylak, the Assistant Director to the Official 100 Monkeys Street Team
and Fanclub will be producing and directing this project with full support of
100 Monkeys and their management. She brings her enthusiasm for
music which has been fueled since an early age due to her
mother's jazz background, and her own involvement in bands and ensembles since
she was nine. Through this project she is wishing to shed light on a
language that speaks across continents and fuels a passion deep within all of us:
music.
What It All Means
Being the sole driving force on a project can sometimes mean that person is
limited when it comes to fundraising or setting their own money aside.
Allowing for adequate funding to be raised means the opportunity to even
further spread the Hundredth Monkey Effect regarding a passion for music
and ideas. The end goal is to share the completed documentary with music fans,
but also to gain a new appreciation and how music changes peoples daily
lives.
The
profits from any videos sold over and above the initial contributions
would go directly to the Spencer Bell
Memorial Fund to help support adrenal/orphan cancer research.
What We Need & What You Get
The reason this hasn't come to light before now is because, in this
day and age, liability risks can effect someone on a personal level if they are
not adequately prepared. Being prepared means having an LLC setup to open
countless doors and make sure the story is told honestly, genuinely, and, most
of all, passionately. Fundraising efforts would go towards the
following: LLC Setup and Initial Filing Fee (Standard LLC Fee, State
Filing Fee, Tax ID Obtainment, Licensing), Staffing Fees, which will
mainly be done on a volunteer basis except with it comes to Sound
Direction/Soundtrack and Editing, DVD Pressing, and Supplies for
filming such as memory cards and backup drives.
If the end fundraising goal is not met, every effort to get the initial LLC up
and running will be made from personal finances which will be the
brunt of the cost; it is, after all, the "make or break" of the
project. If needed, presale of the documentary will be done to cover pressing
and fees associated with hard copies.
Other Ways You Can Help
Whether or not 100 Monkeys are in your current iPod rotation or CD player,
their fans' passion for music is what allows for the Hundredth Monkey Effect to
be spread further with each and every listen. Fans worldwide, and in countless
other languages bridge together seamlessly and form a place where everyone is
brought together. Without this collective group, none of this would be
possible.
If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it does it make a
sound?
Every
recommendation of this project allows for a new opportunity for
a story to be told.
