Music Against Myeloma was created in memory of Mark Rubin, who passed away from
Multiple Myeloma at age 43 on Nov. 27th, 1993. With a goal to raise awareness and
funds, Music Against Myeloma joins together with the International Myeloma Foundation

Myeloma is an oma, or tumor, involving myelo, or blood-producing cells in the
bone marrow. The cells affected are plasma cells (a type of white blood cell), which
are antibody- (immunoglobulin-) producing cells. A cancerous plasma cell is called
a myeloma cell. Myeloma is called multiple since there are frequently multiple
areas in the bones where tumors have developed. More at www.myeloma.org
