About Us
East Coast theatre meets West Coast indie film in our exciting project, MIRACLE MAKER!Our Executive Producer is Tzipora Kaplan, a New York theater artist who joins Los Angeles based producer Elizabeth Ai, the force behind numerous domestic and international independent films.
In addition to visionary writer/director Kate Marks, our creative team includes award-winning cinematographer Amanda Treyz and rising designers Evelyn Ellias and Kate Friedberg.
Our amazing cast includes Bonita Friedericy, Del Zamora, Diana Elizabeth Jordan, Jovan Armand and Niko Posey.
MIRACLE MAKER is Kate's MFA CalArts thesis, and in the fearless run-and-gun tradition of making independent art, we blow the bugle to call in the cavalry; we need your help to fund this film.
Our Film
MIRACLE MAKER is set in the landscape of a pre-apocalyptic world:
A world where you wedge your cavities with candle wax because you can’t afford to go to the dentist,
A world where that beautiful swimming pool you splashed into as a child is now a drained eye-sore,
A world that’s 20 % off-50-60-70-80 % off, where the store windows are boarded up and everything is “For Lease,” This is a world where the protesters have been picketing for years,
and everyone is looking for a miracle.
UNCLE JOE is a vacuum cleaner salesman on a ten-year losing streak. Desperate to make a sale, he recruits his nephew FRANCISCO (12-going-on-40) to be the straight man in his sales routine. Francisco has problems of his own, including his father's illness. When one of their clients whispers to him of a miracle maker in the desert, he secretly takes control of their appointments, determined to find the mythical MISS KITTY.
This is a film for those who’ve gone broke wishing on pennies...
A film for people whose knees are bruised from kneeling too long at the altar...
A film for those who’ve been sunburned at the base of the wailing wall…

The Impact
MIRACLE MAKER is produced by SEE FILMS, where we aim to create a space for women in film. The scarcity of women working behind the camera is as staggering as it was 50 years ago, but on our watch, no such disparity exists: women are the law in this town. Your donation will help support a female artistic vanguard.
In particular your donation will go towards:
Renting a camera
Feeding the cast and crew
Building our futuristic vacuum that sucks up everything in sight
Designing materials for a shag-carpeted house where the air is thick with dust
Creating Uncle Joe’s duct-taped and busted Cadillac
Paying the location fee for Miss Kitty’s dilapidated house and filling it with the gold-colored tokens that people leave in exchange for her miracles.
Our film is one of lush imagery and macabre fantasy; creating these shots in all their rich and fulfilling detail requires more everything: time, attention, care, and cold hard cash. Your donations will elevate our film to the limits of our imagination.
