My name is Mike H. Wilson. I’m a producer, and a tech person, mostly, and I endeavor ever increasingly to combine the two as the new digital age of film making advances.
See my profile on Myspace for more info and photos: www.myspace.com/sacfreetimefilms
My grandfather worked for MGM, and my father worked for FOX & other studios my whole life growing up. So I come from that life and upbringing.
After a run of involvement with industry projects I produced my first feature film, “Sounds”, which premiered at the Crest Theatre in Sacramento, CA on Dec 15, 2006.
Most recently, “Sounds” was accepted to Worldfest Houston 2008 and won the Gold Remi award in Sci-Fi and the Silver Remi Award in Low-Budget, as well as awards in other categories.
Since “Sounds” I have been producing short films and contemplating my next feature projects. There are projects on the horizon, and I could always use some funding to obtain an option for one of them. Keep an eye out for when I post such a project on here looking for funding…
Right now, along with the folks I’ve been working with on short films, I want to engage in making a feature quality short to act as a true calling card. I want this short to be at least the quality of “Sounds”, which means it will be 100% pro, fully developed, and pre-produced before shooting with only the best camera and grip gear available to us. Please keep watch on the “Calling Card” project and contribute toward this goal when funding opens.
Since the only thing I really do in film making is the role of Producer, I typically find myself having to pull together every resource from the camera itself to the people, to the lighting and sound equipment, and everything else. One of the things that would help greatly is to bring many of these items “in house”. Most important of these items, would probably be the camera, since without a camera, one cannot shoot films! I would like to be able to always tell people “yes, we have a camera” rather than “we’re just waiting to see if the camera came through”.
I would like to get either a DVX100 or an HVX200, preferably the HVX. I also really want to get a 35mm adapter so we can get some very beautiful footage. For a good idea of what 35mm will look like, see the photos for “Destiny Revised” and imagine our films looking as good as those photos. This will also open the door to some 35mm DP’s for us. Please keep watch and contribute to help make this goal a reality.
Thank you!
