Mel Rodriguez

About Me

 

Mel Rodriguez is an award-winning writer, director and film editor. As editor, Mr. Rodriguez has worked
with award-winning filmmakers on projects ranging from independents to foreign films to multi-million dol-
lar studio features. His first film as lead editor was the dark comedy Drop Dead Sexy, starring Jason Lee
(NBC’s My Name is Earl, Vanilla Sky) and Crispin Glover (Back to the Future). Rodriguez went on to edit
a documentary produced by Steven Spielberg’s Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation at Uni-
versal Studios. This year, Rodriguez was an editor of the Sundance Grand Jury Prize winning documen-
tary, We Live in Public. The film is currently making the rounds on the festival circuit and is generating
early Oscar buzz for Best Documentary. As writer-director, Rodriguez recently completed In Stereo, a complex short film about the perception of deception in relationships. Off the heels of In Stereo, Rodriguez is in the early stages of development on his debut feature, Columbia Ave.
In addition to his work in film, Rodriguez worked as a writer for People Magazine and was a frequent contributor to MovieMaker Magazine.
