The Exclusive

Maybe Shes Born With It explores the action behind-the-scenes of what it takes to become a Hollywood superstar.  Set entirely in the make-up trailer of Rachel, an ambitious, yet over the hill, Kidz Channel darling who's hoping to parlay her teen queen success into a gig as the next Maybelline Girl.  Rachel spars with Doug, her manager, a neurotic wreck, who's lost all his other clients to bigger sharks. Despite Doug skittishly obsessing over his waning position in the Hollywood food-chain, Rachel still believes in him.  In fact, she needs him now more than ever. OK Magazine has threatened to report on a piece of unusual and incriminating video footage and it will take a miracle to stop them.

Their frenetic plotting, desperate scheme and ultimate decision will force Rachel and Doug to come to terms with the realities of fame and the sacrifices required to succeed in Hollywood.  Can these two ill-fated neurotics scramble through this PR mess or will their careers go up in flames?

The Scoop

It's impossible to predict who will sink or swim in todays Hollywood. It's no longer about the art.  It's all PR.  Whether an actor is cast in the latest mega-budget action movie or has to beg his way on to the set of the next straight to DVD slasher flick, largely depends on calculated decisions made behind the scenes.

Maybe She's Born With It pulls back the curtains on the idea of "Celebrity." In a time when stars and the people behind them are trying so desperately to keep their heads above water, this short film explores what two of these people must do to survive in the crazy world of show business.

PLEASE HELP US REACH $8,000!!!

The more funds we can raise beyond this minimum the better. But $8,000 will afford us the necessities needed to make this film happen.

WHAT WILL WE DO WITH THE MONEY?

We are in pre-production gearing up for a 3-day shoot, July 22nd-24th - Your money will help us pay for camera and lighting equipment rental ($1,500), transportation ($400), meals for the cast & crew ($300) and production insurance ($1,500).  We have a very talented DP that needs to be paid ($900), a fire safety official fee ($300), a production designer and production design budget (total $1100), along with other miscellaneous expenses.

If WE CAN REACH $8000...

We will be able to pay out all cast and crew, shoot on the Red (the same camera used to shoot David Fincher's, The Social Network) and create the world of these two characters with help from our talented production designer and art director.

Each member of our crew is supremely talented in his or her respective field.  We will be working with a multiple Emmy award winner, a Fulbright scholar and an accomplished composer who has worked with the likes of Christina Aguilera and Patti Labelle.  In the coming days, we will add links to our crew members websites along with additional video clips.

We can assure you that your donation will go to making the best film possible and we appreciate you taking the time to check out this page!
