Our Story
This project surfaced after we published the beautiful story, My Special Tamale, that is a celebration of family written and illustrated by the very talented Mariellen Lopez. Mariellen wanted the story to reach a worldwide audience so we talked about working on a cartoon series designed for television channels such as Nickelodeon. As we explored more, we had a strong desire to make a short film that could serve as a pilot for a series and serve as a classroom tool to illustrate that each of us are unique.
The Impact
The storyline is so powerful that our goal is to touch people around the globe so that they might see that each family is as unique and different as its members, and that race, color, culture, or creed does not matter.What We Need
We need to raise $12,500 to fund the production of a 25 minute animated short film which can serve as both a stand alone teaching tool and a pilot to hopefully attract the attention of a children's programming network.Other Ways You Can Help
You can "spread the word" to your Facebook friends and "tweet" the word to all your twitter followers. Also, purchase the book My Special Tamale or Mi Tamal Especial (the Spanish version) and the publisher, Juice Box books will donate money from the sale of each book to the project.
