The Story
My name is Brandon Scullion and I'd like to invite you to donate to my feature film writing and directing debut, Live-In Fear. Live-In Fear is being produced by Maria Olsen of MOnsterworks66 and myself, and we are looking to make a fast paced, in your face horror train wreck in the vein of Evil Dead II. We are shooting in Brian Head, UT from February 18, 2012 to March 3, 2012. It will be shot on a shoe string budget but will have the production value of a six-digit extravaganza.
For our first campaign, I'm going to be raising money to purchase a Canon 7D so we can shoot the movie. (The camera is a pretty important part, if you didn't know.)
Live -In Fear is a movie about confronting your fears and either defeating them or letting them consume you. When four friends go on a mountain vacation to escape their normal lives, they soon find their fears and anxieties manifesting into reality through supernatural means and champing at the bit to drive them insane and, ultimately, kill them. To put it in the words of the great Eric Powell: this ain't funny...
This is not a found footage movie. There is nobody tied to a chair being tortured, and there aren't idiot characters making the wrong choices that end up killing them.
The Impact
This is cutting edge independent filmmaking at it's finest. I've never been one to be discouraged so instead of waiting for a big production company to find me and give me money and make mandates over my film, I'm doing it on my own (with the help of many like minded individuals.)
This film was written with low budget in mind. With locations already guaranteed and locked for free, I was able to write the film around what was available to me, not with what I needed to get... almost exactly like how Robert Rodriguez made El Mariachi.
Come March 3rd, 2012, production WILL be wrapped come hell or high water. I know it's been said many times before, but failure is not an option.
We'll be sending the film off to as many festivals as we can find and we will find distribution after completion. The success of Live-In Fear will then be used as a spring board to head right into my 2nd feature.
