Our Story
We are launching LayawAid.com - a service that connects Layaway Angels and families in need.
Layaway Angels are families and individuals that randomly pay off department store Layaway Accounts as an anonymous way to 'pay it forward' and help families that may be in need. These angels are not looking for notoriety or recognition - simply a way to directly influence the lives of children and families in their local communities.
Some people shy away from traditional charities, and others do not have an opportunity to volunteer their time or resources to helping out. Layawaid provides them with a chance to anonymously help out, whether it is people in their specific community, or nationwide.
The Impact
The recession has hit home - closer than any of us though possible. There are thousands of children out there that won't be able to experience the joy of opening presents on Christmas morning. We are looking to make a Christmas Miracle for as many families as possible before this week is out.
What We Need & What You Get
We are needing contributions - plain and simple. Ever contribution helps someone that was not able to come up with the money to pay for their children's gifts and household necessities.
The process of selecting accounts to fund is not completely random - the department store managers that we work with are instructed to select layaway accounts containing toys, children's products and household necessities and avoid those consisting of TV's, Computers and other non-essential and big-ticket items. The goal is to help those in need, reaching out in a way that would not traditionally be possible.
This is a last-minute effort, inspired by the valiant stories of Layaway Angels springing up throughout the country.
Note: If you are wanting your contribution to go to a specific
community, please include a note or submit an email from the account
used to submit the contribution. Our volunteers will do their best to
make sure that your contribution goes to helping families in your
community.
