Our Story
"I'm so tired of auditioning with no results!" I told Marianna. We were sitting in a coffee shop in West LA, she had a green tea latte and I had my favorite indulgence, the quiche Lorraine. "Me too! It sucks waiting for someone else to hire me," she replied.
Then we were struck with a brilliant idea: why not make our own film!? And thus Last Ditch Therapy was born.
Marianna and I had each produced little things here and there, and I'd had success writing for the stage, but neither of us had produced a real-deal film before. Nevertheless, we brainstormed our story and I ran home to write the script.
This past summer we raised $12,000.00 for the film. We were overwhelmed by support from friends and family members, and dove right in to the world of film making without hesitation. In August we shot the 26-minute film over the course of 4 days in three different locations, and we've been working away in post-production since then (check out the clip, above!).
The Impact
Marianna and I strongly believe in the importance of artists being pro-active and paving their own way to creative expression. By contributing to this project, you are making a difference in the lives of not just the two of us, but the lives of actors, crew members, camera people, editors, composers, dancers, musicians, teachers, producers, writers, and their friends and family members, as well as the many people who will see the film and be moved, touched and inspired in their own personal way.
What We Need & What You Get
We still need $4,800 to complete our film! We need to make final adjustments to color and sound to make Last Ditch Therapy a professional, film-festival quality short film. In addition to that, the $4,800 will be put towards submission fees for festivals such as the LA Film Festival, Newport Beach, and several others where our film will be seen before hundreds of industry professionals!
Take a look at some of the levels of support to the right. We created some fun incentives for you to get involved, whatever your contribution level!
