The compilation album

For his end of studies project, Pierre de Schaetzen decided to join hands with Laid Back (LDBK) to release a 15 tracks compilation album which will gather some 20 artists who collaborated with LDBK since 2002.

January 2012 update: Six months after its release and given that all 500 CD's are sold, you can now downlaod the LDBK compilation for free on www.ldbk.eu/compilation.

The T-shirt

As last year, we will collaborate with Limited Addiction to manufacture the 2010 LDBK tees. Expect hangtags, sleevetags, buttons and the unbeatable Limited Addiction quality. Here is a rough sketch of Oli-B's design. Make sure to pre-order yours (we'll contact you to ask for your size/model on the 16th of May) because we know from experience that we will not be able to meet all demands and will print only 150 tees.

 

 

The network

LDBK's priority is to connect communities around the world and activate them to engage in different projects. Most of our content is generated through this unique and ever-growing international network of creative minds (designers, photographers, writers, artists, musicians, DJ's, software developers, filmmakers and so forth).

 

Once again, we want to have the whole team on board for this project: while musicians and producers are locked in their studio, one of our favorite painters - Oli-B - is working on the album/t-shirt artwork, others will be documenting the whole process, we'll have DJ's collaborating on several facets of the release etc.

 

But YOU - listener, supporter, follower or collaborator - are also part of this LDBK network. The success of this IndieGoGo campaign will determine the reach of the project. In other words, the more funds we can gather, the more CD's we can press, the more promotion we can make, etc.

The total cost of this project - $7500 - will be entirely financed through this crowd-funding campaign. With this sum, we will press 1000 CD's, promote all the artists/partners involved and organize the release party.

What is Laid Back ?

The Laid Back project (aka LDBK) first came together in 2002 as a weekly radio show broadcasted on a local radio station in Brussels. However, music is nothing without context, stories, images and therefore, we always try to integrate and share as much content as possible about the music we are playing, presenting it in new ways with pertinent background stories, captivating visuals (especially street art) and the best layout.

 

We focus on everything urban related be it music, art, lifestyle or whatever topic they feel like to discuss. While music wise, We play everything from Soul, Funk, Jazz, Psych Rock, Disco and Latin music to Hip Hop and much more.

Who is behind this project?

Pierre de Schaetzen is a student at Belgium's first college for music management, PHL Music. In order to graduate in June, he is required to complete a music related project on a professional level... This is when this LDBK compilation came into the picture.

 

Pierre first started working with Laid Back in January 2010 and successfully collaborated on several projects, which led Laid Back's founder Julien Mourlon to ask him to take the lead on this project.
