ABOUT THE FILM:
In La Source, water does not come easily. For the past two hundred years, villagers of this remote Haitian village have had to choose either to endure a dangerous and physically taxing walk to fetch clean water or drink contaminated water from a nearby river. For over 30 years the people in the village have attempted to address this problem by constructing a means to channel the water from a natural spring in the mountains but with limited funding and an unsupportive government their attempts were to no avail. For the Lajeunesse Brothers the time had come to finish the work their father and their community had started. As a young man Josue moved from La Source to New Jersey where he found employment as a custodian at Princeton University. His custodial work and second job as a taxi driver, which total close to 20 hours a day, allows him to send money home to La Source so that he and his brother Chrismedonne, who remained in La Source and found work as a carpenter, could properly channel the water from the mountain into their village.
Our journey to La Source takes us on an adventure as the Lajeunesse Brothers work together to rally the support of a group of Princeton students, a Los Angeles-based charity called Generosity Water, and the people of La Source to fulfill their late fathers dream to improve the conditions of their impoverished village. La Source is not just a movie about the transformation that occurs in a community when provided with the most basic commodity of all, but the story of two brothers empowered by a vision and how they were able to ignite the passion of people thousands of miles away to change the lives of the people in La Source forever. Where water runs, life flows.

THE SOCIAL ACTION CAMPAIGN:
Having nickel and dimed our way through the production of this film we decided this was the right time to reach out for help again. The film is funded - we're getting very close to completing it - and we're developing some pretty exciting strategies to get this film seen by hundreds of thousands of people and most importantly empower and resource those that feel called to do something about the global water crisis in Haiti and throughout the world.
We are in the middle of a water crisis and many of us don't even know it. Nearly 1 billion people around the world do not have access to clean drinking water. That is one in six of us. Unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation cause 80% of all sickness and disease, and kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. Children are especially vulnerable to the consequences of unsafe water. Of the 42,000 deaths that occur every week from unsafe water, and a lack of basic sanitation, 90% are children under five years old. We believe that providing clean water is the first step to bringing any village out of extreme poverty. We are blessed to be partnering with the respected non-profit, Generosity Water to use this film as a tool to help eradicate this global problem.
Generosity Water is a Los Angeles-based charitable organization whose mission is to bring solutions to the global water crisis. Through innovative awareness campaigns, strategic implementation and in depth accountability they inspire people to think globally and live generously. In the last three years they have been able to fund 242 water wells and 8 cisterns in 17 countries serving over 100,000 people with clean, safe drinking water.
Here's a glimpse of some of the exciting things we plan on doing as a part of the action campaign:
-A cross-country screening tour that will include appearances by cast/crew/guest speakers and providing people with practical and immediate ways to get involved
-A small screening tour throughout Haiti, setting up generators where needed, including La Source. Doing our part to restore hope in Haiti and help them to see what is possible.
-"La Source" Social Action Kit - Everything people will need to get involved in a way that is meaningful, simple, practical, and fun.
-Discussion
guides to help those screening the film in their homes, churches, and schools engage in Q&As and meaningful discussions about the film and the global water crisis.
Outside of these projects the money will cover the basic needs of getting a film out into the world like a website, DVD duplication, press kits, social media ads etc etc.
THE GOAL:
We are breaking down our goal of raising $105,000 for the action campaign in 2 phases. The first goal is to raise $25,000. This will get the ball rolling for us with making the film available for audiences in the thousands to see, printing materials to engage and educate and launching a press campaign around the film.
You will notice
we have set our goal at $15,000. We did this because of the way IndieGoGo works. A higher percentage of the money raised is taken by IndieGoGo if the goal is not met. So PLEASE dont be discouraged
from donating if we have reached our goal. Remember we are trying to
raise the full $105,000 and we have plenty of great perks to go
around. ALL DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE*. ALL funds will go directly towards the implementation of the action campaign. Filmmakers will not receive any payment or salaries from these funds.
We appreciate your consideration in helping us spread this important message about the water crisis, inspire people to get involved, and empower them with the tools they need to get something done about it.
