The BackStory

LUMEN is an outdoor video and performance art festival featuring cutting edge work by established and emerging artists with raw, decrepit warehouses as the backdrop. It is in its second year, bringing over 800 people to Staten Island's waterfront for this single largest contemporary art one-day event in Staten island's history.

In addition to the video projections, there are a full-range of performance art events happening throughout the day, courtesy of Grace Exhibition Space in Brooklyn.  These performance art events keep the audience involved as we wait for the sun to set and the projectors start to roll.

From narrative to avant-garde to sound-based, from local to international, LUMEN has got it all.

What You Can Expect

LUMEN 2011 will be held at the Lighthouse Museum Coastguard site just steps east of the SI Ferry terminal. Head curator Ginger Shulick will be accompanied by four guest curators and close to 100 artists from Staten Island and beyond.

Check out www.lumenfest.org for the list of artists participating in 2011 and up to date information.

What We Need & What You Get

We need to raise approximately $2000 to cover our costs. These funds will help cover permit fees, equipment rentals and help pay our artists and curators. In turn you will receive cool perks and original artist work by Lisa Dahl, Steven Lapcevic and Paul Moakely.
