“Kizuna,” which means bond in Japanese is a coming of age tale about a high school boy named Ringo, who is a talented taiko drummer who dreams of becoming a famous drummer like his hero Saburo Kurosawa. Ringo lives with his father who is rice farmer and oversees the family rice fields. Ringo’s father wants Ringo to stop playing taiko and work in the rice fields. After his father has him removed from his taiko team, in an act of protest, Ringo runs away to the city to seek his goal. While there, he meets another runaway, Daisuke, who also wants to become a singer and dancer. Together, Ringo and Daisuke, perform on the street to raise money to travel to Tokyo. Ringo quickly learns living on the streets can be rough and that not everyone is honest and that not all heroes live up to their image. Ringo return home and discovers that the only true bond in life is the family bond — Kizuna.
