Kilifi Kids is an all-volunteer partnership of young professionals in the US and Kenya working to make real changes in the world. Our focus is on the health and education of kids in a small region of Kenya called Kilifi.
We’re looking for support for our “Cornerstone Trip” to:
- Share the story of the people in Kenya who building a brighter future for their communities by collecting video, pictures, and writing to share with US supporters like you; and
- Help 10,000 kids in Kilifi fight malnourishment by “mHealth”: innovative use of cell phones in healthcare and malnutrition treatment
Funds will complement existing resources to send co-founder Michael Olsen and board member Erik Michielsen to Kenya for two weeks of interviews with lots of community members and intensive meetings with government, community, and technology partners to improve the mHealth project.
Your support will allow you to take part in the trip as much as possible—see our perks.
Background: Non-profit Kilifi Kids was founded in 2006 to create healthier and brighter futures for the kids in Kilifi, Kenya. To date, over 25,000 children have been served, mainly through de-worming medication that keeps them healthy and in school. In sum, the effort has added over 6,000 years of schooling to the community. See our snazzy new website for more info.
