About Me

 

Born in Taipei, GUO writes and directs for film and theatre. He has developed interest in storytelling at a young age when he grew up with his grandparents in a temple in southern Taiwan. In 2011, Guo received Domestic Film Fund of Taiwan government for his screenplay How I Learned to Tell a Lie. He flew from New York back home, produced and directed the short film over the summer and fall in 2011.

An alumnus from Berlinale Talent Campus 2009, he obtained an MFA from the Graduate Film Program in NYU Tisch School of the Arts, where he was awarded the Tisch School of the Arts Scholarships and Dalio Family Foundation Scholarship for Excellence; Haig Manoogian Award for his thesis film Only Meal of the Day (2010). It was also selected in San Francisco and New York Asian American International Film Festivals, Film Expo Asia Bangkok, Kaohsiung and First Run Film Festivals. Other works include Translucent (2009) that screened at First Run and Desiderata Festivals in New York; Unaccompanied (2009) at New Director’s Series in Anthology Film Archives in New York; Close (2007) at Slamdance Anarchy and Stroke (2006) in Lucania Film Festival Italy.

Currently Guo is working on his feature script Afternoon Thunderstorm.
