Our Story
In January 2011, singer-songwriter Jane Thatcher asked good friends Michael James Brooks and Ira Ochs to sit in on a few shows with her. The addition of Mike's stunning piano lines and Ira's haunting cello parts to her songwriting gave birth to an unexpected trio. In response to great feedback, the trio spent the rest of the Spring and Summer touring and writing new music. Jane and the Pretty Pleases holed up one day in the basement of a Northwest Chicago home to record a live demo. In many ways, they just wanted to document what they had been working on. A snapshot of their lives at the time. But something magical happened in that basement. After listening back, they are so happy with the songs that they have decided to release them into the world. They are raising money here to properly mix and release the songs as a Live EP. They are also raising funds to help promote and tour in support of the EP release. Take a listen...
The Impact
Without your help, the music will sit on a shelf without being mixed, mastered, or distributed. We have put a lot of our heart, time, and talent into writing, performing, and recording these songs and hopefully it won't take much to get the project finished. The best music seems to happen organically, made with the people you love. This is a grassroots and authentic take on our lives and experiences. We plan to release the album digitally and make it affordable and accessible to others. All your help allows us as artists and musicians to continue working, eating, and creating.

-Donations of $25 to $49 will receive a free digital download of the album and a concert poster signed by Jane,

-Donations of $50 to $149 will receive a free digital download of the album, a concert poster signed by Jane, Mike
and Ira and a copy of previously made albums and never-before-heard recordings by Jane
-Donations of $150 and up will receive all of the above and a personalized, musical thank you from Jane

We need $400 to properly mix and master the tracks that we already have
We need $200 to properly promote and market the project
We need $600 to properly plan a tour and pay for travel and expenses (think gas prices), maybe to your city!!
If we don't make anything there will be 7 lonely songs sitting on someone's hard drive forever wishing to be heard. We won't be able to market and promote a product that we are proud of and excited about. And we definitely won't make it to your town for an awesome EP RELEASE PARTY AND SHOW!!!!
