James Ward was born in Detroit, Michigan but divided his childhood between Highland Park and Westside Detroit. As a youth, he gained his passion for film after a failed Burger King commercial during the Brady Keys era. Vowing to never give up on his dream, he attended several acting classes including Second City Detroit and intense training by Stephen Black of The Neighborhood Playhouse of New York. After years of hands on training and performing, sometimes for free, he decided to venture on his own by directing and writing screenplays. Over the years he has been mentored by several people, including Minnie Lee Ward, grandmother, and Dave Wes, of Mix 92.3. He has an unparalleled vision that is combined with hunger, drive, and determination toward a successful career. His passion, lead him to meeting with Ronnie Warner of Facilitator Films who requested two screenplays from James. Unfortunately the next day the writer’s strike began. Not one to give up on his dreams, he used this down time to network and hone his craft. He is a vivid writer who can assimilate to any genre and is currently under the tutelage of Mr. Ernest Thomas and Sterling G.
