Our Story Begins...
Jack & Jill is a modern adaptation of the old nursery rhyme of the same name. In this interpretation the characters Jack and Jill are two lovers whose relationship has come to a tragic and fatal end. The story takes place in a mysterious old house at the top of their proverbial hill. This house is a spiritual no-man's-land - a purgatorial realm where those who have fallen have time to enact one last drama before the ultimate end of their life.
Jack & Jill will be Produced and Directed by Frank Forrestall, a filmmaker living in Nova Scotia Canada along with a highly skilled team of volunteer crew and talent; along with many others this team includes Production Manager Marie David, Art Director Curphey Forrestall and Costume Designer Sherry Lynn Jollymore. Additional Producers who have joined the project: Dean Soltys and Ehren Davis.
Jack & Jill will be produced in Halifax Nova Scotia and feature the creative work of many of Nova Scotia's vibrant film/TV community.
The Mystery Endures
This film explores themes which are constant to the human experience. Like many of the world's ancient myths and sacred tales the old rhyme of Jack & Jill has offered a ponderous mystery to generations of readers. Who were Jack and Jill? Why did they ascend the hill? And - perhaps most importantly - what precipitated their tragic "fall."
This film attempts to answer these questions in a manner relevant to our modern times; interpreting the elements for their allegorical meaning. From this simple rhyme, a dark and mysterious tale emerges.
What We Need & What You Get
Jack & Jill began as a volunteer powered project with materials and production costs funded out-of-pocket. But the story has grown in the telling and as more talented people join the production we've found it necessary to begin raising money so that we can give our team the creative latitude they require to create truly marvelous work.
We're reaching out to the Indiegogo community for financing because we want to maintain the independent spirit of this project and make something truly unique.
Funds raised for this project will go toward renting locations, building sets, costume design and key production services. When production is completed we will seek to include the film in as many festivals as possible and maximize the exposure for our team's creative efforts.
In return for your support we're offering various reward bundles which include the following perks:
- Special thanks credit on the film
- Signed Poster Print - This is an 8.5" x 11" film poster - the same which will be used to promote the film in festivals and events - Signed by either the director or cast member.
