Interview Date

Weve all had our fair share of bad interviews and bad dates. The comedic short film Interview Date is a classic case of mistaken identity where a man going on a blind date ends up on an interview, and a man going for an interview ends up on a blind date.

Written by standup comedians Mike Lemcke and Grant Lyon, the screenplay recently won this years DC Shorts Screenwriting Competition. Over 200 hundred scripts were submitted from all over the country, and after a live table read, Interview Date was awarded first place and is guaranteed admission into the 2011 DC Film Festival. Joe Flood of the Pink Line Project wrote a review of the live table read saying, "It was well-acted and presented, with some very funny lines about the similarities between looking for love and finding a job." The completed film will also be submitted to other major comedy and film festivals, particularly comedy festivals that Mike and Grant have built connections with as comedians.

About the writers:

Mike Lemcke started doing stand-up comedy at a local bar when he was 17. Mike's sharp wit underlies his easy going relatable style. He has worked with such comedy greats as Jim Breuer and Michael McDonald.

Grant Lyon has performed in a number of prestigious comedy festivals including the Bumbershoot Music & Arts Festival, the Laughing Skull Comedy Festival, and the San Francisco Comedy Competition. In 2008, he won the Colorado Mile High Comedy Competition that took place all over the state and included comedians from all over the country. He has opened for names like Robin Williams and Dana Gould. In addition, Grant is a contributing writer for The Huffington Post.
