Religion has been outlawed in the recently formed Eurasian country of Gaverria. Those who practice of support religion are hunted, imprisoned, and killed.

Isaac, a lone pious man, has been captured by a group of bounty hunters led by a former military officer named Lieutenant Einsam. As he awaits his own death, Isaac attempts to understand his persecutors.
