Our Story
With over six million viewers worldwide, San Francisco's VOICES OF MUSIC is one of the most popular Early Music ensembles in the United States today. Voices of Music performs both renaissance and baroque music in "refreshing" (San Francisco Examiner), one-on-a-part performances that are polished, stylish, and intimate. The American tenor THOMAS COOLEY offers a "rarely heard radiant power and sensitivity" (Main-Post) and is quickly establishing a reputation on both sides of the Atlantic � and beyond � as a singer of great versatility, expressiveness, and virtuosity.
With our IndieGoGo campaign, If Music be the Food of Love, we are raising funds to record a program of songs by Henry Purcell (1659-1695) that will be freely available online. When complete, this HD video recording will be the first time that many of these electrifying songs are available online in high quality streaming video.
Voices of Music is a pioneer in digital technology for the arts, and more than 11,000 people watch concerts and programming from our ensemble each day--more than four million viewers a year. We believe that high definition (HD) video is the most effective medium for bringing early music to the largest worldwide audience so we offer all of our high-quality HD video content (live concerts and studio recordings of early music) FREE on our website, www.voicesofmusic.org.
The Impact
Voices of Music has already committed more than $3500 to this project and needs an additional $4500 to complete the budget for recording and production. With your support Voices of Music and Thomas Cooley can create a lasting, high quality performance of Purcell songs that will be freely available to anyone in the world with an internet connection.
What We Need & What You Get
Please help us by contributing to this exciting HD video recording project. We need to raise $4500 in the next 30 days. If we do not reach this goal, the difference will have to be covered with the Voices of Music operations budget that we use to produce our concert series and maintain our library of free online video content.Donors at the $10, $25, $50, $75, $100, $250, and $2500 levels will receive exclusive perks including Voices of Music merchandise and recordings, invitations to special events, and even a private concert by the ensemble.
