Why Cuba? Why Homeopathy?

 

Hi, my name is Ananda More and I'm a homeopath. Ive been in practice for over 6 years now and I also help run a homeopathic store in Toronto. Over the years, in my studies and extensive travels Ive been blessed with seeing the miracles homeopathy can produce, but Ive also been left with a lot of questions.

 

At first I was an absolute skeptic. No, I thought it was the stupidest thing Id ever heard of. Homeopathy made no sense to me whatsoever and so I completely discounted it, until one simple experience in India helped to change my mind. However, through years of practice I've started to question the validity of homeopathy again. Perhaps its success is nothing more than a beautifully orchestrated placebo effect.

I am embarking on search to see if there really is any compelling evidence anywhere in the world that can legitimately support the homeopathic hypothesis. This brings me to the first part of my journey, a Cuban odyssey.

 

In 2007, Cuba launched a homeopathic campaign to prevent a Leptospirosis outbreak (Leptospirosis is a severe bacterial infection that occurs when people are exposed to contaminated water). The results were so successful that it surprised even the international Homeopathic community.

 

This is why I am traveling to Cuba this February. This will be our second trip to Cuba.

In July I traveled with film maker David Whillans, where we met with Dr. Gustavo Bracho, an immunologist and Head of the Homeopathy and Biotherapic Projects, at the Finlay Institute. We filmed local homeopathic pharmacies, spoke to homeopathic patients and many different doctors all working on their own research projects to advance homeopathy. We learned about the use of homeopathy in preventing and treating H1N1, dengue, conjunctivitis, cancer and more.

We are returning now to deepen our understanding; to speak to the people actually involved in the leptospirosis intervention in Cuba's Eastern provinces, to speak with Dr. Concepcion Campa, the Director of the Finley Institute and the initiating force behind the revival of homeopathy in Cuba, Learn more about the history of the Green Medicine Revolution and more.

 

Once the Cuban portion of filming is complete we will continue on our search for evidence by talking to scientists around the world who claim to have evidence that supports homeopathy. Well also check out homeopathic clinics in the far flung communities in places like Kenya, Tanzania, Bhaktapur (Nepal),  India, and Shanghai (China).

 

Homeopathy could change your life! And it could change your medical system (in a good way)!  

By making this film, we want be sharing our findings with the world. We want to show an unbiased point of view, which is very difficult to find when it comes to homeopathy.

 

If our evidence shows that homeopathy may be an effective and affordable way to prevent and treat disease with few adverse effects, shouldnt everyone have the opportunity to learn more? This could have an immense impact on how health care is delivered around the world. If we find that homeopathy isnt all it claims to be shouldnt we all have that information as well?

 

This is a BIG PROJECT, and we need YOUR help!

Our goal for this IndieGoGo campaign is $2,000 (Although our total budget for the Cuban portion of our film will probably cost up to $50,000 (yikes!) when post-production is all said and done.)

(There are obviously many other expenses: film permits, sound equipment and recordist, hard drives, food, equipment insurance, post production, animation etc. and we realize that one small campaign isn't going to cover all the costs so we have a variety of fundraising events. However if we can surpass the $2000 level we'll be extraordinarily happy!)
