Our Story
We are Dead On Pictures. Glenn Nelson (Director), Duane Sanchez (Producer), and Andrei Lapionak (Director of Photography). We have been producing independent films collectively since 2003, and we have had much success producing various Music Videos, Promos, Short & Feature films, and even a few TV pilots. We have collaborated with numerous local artists, musicians, and fellow filmmakers resulting in a large network of bright minds and vast imaginations.
IN THE WOODS is about a lone Bow-Hunter, camping in the woods for his yearly Hunting Trips. Unbeknownst to him, a viral outbreak has wreaked havoc in the main city, and there are a few INFECTED who have scattered and spanned off into the woods. As a classic case of Hunter turned Hunted, our main character must run for his life, and turn his hunting skills into surviving skills.
Running for his life, fighting off infected crazies, struggling to find his way back to civilization, our hero brings thrills, suspense, and horror, in this fast-paced action-packed short film.
The Impact
Our attempt is to continue the struggle and love of filmmaking in the Maryland area. There are so many local filmmakers who strive to work and create as frequently as possible, to produce entertaining films, and honestly, to show off their talent for the whole world to see.
Our goal is to raise $29,000 for the film's budget. Now this may seem high, and this is why.
First, if you're going to make a film, it's important to make it the right way. There are always some small smart ways to trim a budget, to cut corners, but at the same time, it is important to spend the money and the quality time needed on a scene, perfecting each shot, getting the right take, taking the time to work with the actors to get the perfect performance, to focus on the labor of make-up, special effects, wardrobe and set design so that everything fits flawlessly into a great film.
Second, it is very important that the cast & crew be paid for their hard work, and this budget includes pay rates for every cast and crew member. The pay rates may not be on the Hollywood scale, but they are fair and reasonable. The cast & crew hired for the film are professionals, experienced in producing high quality pictures. The pain-staking efforts they make to produce a great film and perform their duties certainly deserves some compensation. If the cast & crew are paid, then they will feel appreciated, and in return they will have the initiative to come to set everyday of production, and do a great job.
What We Need & What You Get
Again our Budget is $29,000. This money will go to the cast, the crew, the gear such as cameras, lights, grip & electric, vehicles needed to haul that equipment, catering and craft services in order to feed the cast & crew, set dressings, props purchases, wardrobe purchases, hardware to edit the film, and even the submission fees for film festivals.
There are so many little elements and details involved in producing a high quality film, and unfortunately these little elements and details cost money. Fortunately for us, we have YOU! With every single contribution, with every single person who reads this, understands our passion, and spreads the word, with everyone who loves films as much as we do, we come one step closer to making this dream a reality.
A total $29,000 out of one pocket, wow, that's a lot, that really hurts the bank account. But what about 10 pockets, or 50 pockets, even 100 contributors. What if 1500 different people contributed $20, guess what, we've reached our goal. $20 is about the cost of a night out at the movies. What if you took that $20 and actually MADE a movie?
Now here's the fun part. We know you don't get anything for free, that's why we need to pay our cast and crew, so with YOUR contribution there's a PERK! You could get your name credited on our websites, or in the film's credits, you could get signed memorabilia, a DVD, the musical score, even a piece of wardrobe or a prop from the film. If you're generous enough, you could even have a tour of the set. Every contribution comes with a perk.
Other Ways You Can Help
I personally have over 700 contacts in my address book. If I were to combine my Facebook, LinkedIn, and Email contacts, it could easily be over 1000 people I can reach out to. And you're one of them. How many contacts do you have? If you spread it around, and they all spread it out, and so on and so on, then the word REALLY gets out. The more people who now about it, then the more people know about it. Get it?
Whether or not you contribute, please spread the word, every effort is important to us and immensely treasured. Please use the 'share tools' to spread our campaign cause, and we look forward to seeing you at the premiere.
