UPDATES! - CAST SPECIAL!

Melanie Gray (Jill)

Melanie's stunning looks are only out-shadowed by her riveting presence on screen. She's acted as a guest lead alongside Jeff Goldblum in Law&Order Criminal Intent, and she's put her figure-skating talent to use in the award-winning short film Roar. Her performance can also be seen in the upcoming feature film Cheerful Weather For A Wedding (2011).

Guy Evans (Steve)
Guy's performances are as entertaining as they are borderline insane think about Steve Buscemi's and Christian Bale's love child. He's acted in theatre classics from Shakespeare to Oscar Wilde, and his several short film roles underline his versatile range and Kafka-esque presence. He can also be seen in the next Batman film, directed by Christopher Nolan.

John Guilor (Ray)
John's impeccable comedic skills and timing make his performances hilariously entertaining. He masters dozens of accents and specializes in impressions and voice acting. During his career he's played Kreed Eedles, the world's most inaccurate psychic channeling Michael Jackson, and he's also appeared in Coronation Street, and Emmerdale.

No love like butcher love

Ever wondered what it would be like to be loved by not one, but two butchers?

Ray is a brass bulldozer of a man and a proud owner of a butcher shop. He wants to put a ring on Jill, his florist girlfriend. But little does he know there's another man competing for her affection. That, and she's pregnant... The result is inevitable: A bloody showdown in a butcher's backroom.

Just another graduation film?

We all love making movies. We're pretty decent at it too, finishing our respective MA Programmes (Directing, Cinematography, Screenwriting, and Producing) this summer at Screen Academy Scotland. So, is I Chop You just another student film? Nope.

Let's be honest we've got big plans for I Chop You. The script is a perfect mix of guts and glory, ribs and romance. The story will make you chuckle, grimace and flinch, quite possible all at once. Visually think Dexter meets Delicatessen. We want to take the viewer for a ride, starting from the luscious scents of a flower shop, ending up in the bloody gore of a butcher's backroom.

Unfortunately we cannot afford to this alone. This is why we're inviting you to join the ride. Even the smallest contributions are welcome and appreciated. Even if you've got no money to spare, you can help us for free (details below).

The Team

The twisted paths of our lives crossed in Edinburgh, the vibrant Scottish capital.

Pavel, the director. His grandfather was one of the best butchers in his hometown, far away in the industrial wastelands of Eastern Europe. Already having a couple of short films under his belt, Pawel's style is dark and surreal, often digging through the underworld of the human mind.

Mia, the screenwriter. Hailing from the frozen plains of North Europe, she bled her Gin&Tonic-infused heart out writing I Chop You. Already an established journalist, Mia spills the excess sexual innuendos and societal conspiracies in her scripts.

Steve, the cinematographer. Steve, a full-blooded Scottish native, will make the visuals succulent and delicious like an Aberdeen Angus steak. Being a freetime rock'n'roll star, Steve's style is raw and vibrant, drawing from a rich colour palette and a strong sense of visual narrative.

Bianca, the producer. Bianca has efficiency and organisation skills coursing through her German veins. After scouting a 19th century Canadian fisher village in the UK during her previous short film, Bianca will stop short at nothing when hunting the right locations, cast and crew.

This core team is joined by art direction, sound, VFX and post-production professionals and students. The team has the passion and commitment to make I Chop You stand up to the highest standards.

What We Need & What You Get

We're investing a lot of time, effort and love in this film. This, however is not enough, which is why you're reading this.

We need your support in order to make high-quality props, costumes and to make our dream locations a reality (and trust us, arranging a butcher shop is no small feat). We've already raised over 1000 for the project out of our own pockets, but this money is wearing thin and that's why we're asking for your help.

We've gathered a fantastic crew of people around our cause. We're all motivated and crazy enough to do all this hard work for free. We've invested our own savings, knowing full well there's no way anyone will make a profit. Like all semi-professional filmmakers we've begged, borrowed and stolen. Discount shop owners know us by name. Banks laughed in our faces. Our brainchild cries, hungry.

That's why we turn to you. And of course, apart from that great fuzzy feeling inside, each contribution gets you some really unique perks like beautiful flowers or delicious meat delivered to an address of your choice!
