Our Story
Hello! I'm Jamie. I'm 30 years old, and I live in York, a small yet hugely creative city nestled deep in the North East of England.
I'm the founder of a new and exciting film company called RedShirt films. We love making, creating, writing and sharing our films. We work very hard at what we do, knowing how to balance the total joy that comes from creating and sharing film, and getting stuck in to ensure the final result is the best that it can be.
What Do We Do?
Currently, we're making a webseries. It's called "I AM TIM" and it's a fake documentary based in York. It celebrates all things British, from tea to blood-sucking vampires.
In June we'll be filming our first short film "/GRUE" which will be entered into festivals, screened at horror conventions and shown to anyone and everyone around the country.
In 2012 we WILL be filming our first big project, a feature length adaptation of the webseries. We will be seeking backing for this in the future, and hoping to get the film screened around the country. It will be released on DVD and like "/GRUE", it will be screened at several horror conventions and festivals.
Can We Do These Things?
We are doing it, despite the odds that are stacked against us. We're not rich, we work regular jobs. We're a little film company with huge ambitions. We film on Canon DSLR cameras, and use shoulder rigs made of plumbing pipe. We beg, borrow and steal locations. We schedule around shifts in cafes, bars, restaurants.
But we've managed to make 10 out of 20 proposed episodes of I Am Tim, so yes. We can do these things, the proof is sitting there online for all to see!
What Do We Need?
We're at the halfway point of the series now. We've shot ten episodes, with ten more to film. We've evolved from a little group of idiots to a reasonable sized film crew with two cameramen shooting with DSLRs, a dedicated sound technician, a DIT girl, make up assistants, and an ever expanding cast of incredibly talented and passionate actors who give up a lot of their time for no pay.
To date, the series was funded by our pockets, donations from the cast and crew, and some donations that were very kindly submitted from people on our facebook page. We will be forever grateful to you.
However, that's run out. We don't spend a lot, and we make a little amount go a very, very long way.
Check out the series - www.hisnameistim.com
You can see the leaps in terms of what we're doing. The effects, the locations, the sheer scale of the thing.
The Impact
Simple. Your money would enable the continuation of the project. Without donations, we may have to wrap this thing up early. The plan is to make a feature version of this story in a couple of years time, that would be entered into festivals and so forth, but as a film company we're not ready for that kind of project yet.We need the webseries to survive so we learn and adapt with the challenges that face us.
You can see your money onscreen. 100% of donations go into the effects and props which are used in the series.
What We Need & What You Get
I've put $1650 on the goal. That's close to the 1000 mark we're trying to achieve. That money will fund the series for the next 18 months and take us to the finish line.
A donation of $100 will fund an entire episode. We can make the money stretch that far!
Plaster for mouldings, paint, ingredients, latex, bits of pipe, plastic tubes, the list is endless. Check out Simons website, and see EXACTLY where your money will go.

Perks
I've listed several levels of perks. All the details of contributors will be stored, and we'll be sending out all the goodies on the same day, just after the 60 days expires.
Many thanks!
Jamie
