Synopsis:
The internet has was designed to be an open platform where anyone can create a website and any information can pass through a connection. If big business starts to be selective about what can pass through it will be like when the FCC cracked down on early radio expression and it wasn’t long before only commercial radio existed. The internet needs to stay neutral and not give certain files preference. A 10 minute version of this feature length documentary has circulated over the past year getting half a million views and now more then ever the issue is heating up and threating the future of the net. Please help me raise the funds to get a full time editor to make the project complete. I’ve already proved my filmmaking abilities with Four Eyed Monsters and the 10 minute edit. And I know I can get this documentary seen if I can release it for free. So I want to get it funded in advance so I don’t have to sell it when it’s done. people will be able to just have it and become a part of the cause.

It's a film dedicated to protecting the future of the internet. It will use the internet to get funded. It will use the internet to gather footage and material. It will use the internet to test screen rough edits. And it will use the internet to distribute the final product as a free high quality download that can be shared all over the world using, you guessed it, the internet.

How will these funds be used?
One third will be used for a professional editor. One third will be used to buy an HVX-200 and some portable hard drives to travel to some key speakers to film high quality interviews. These will replace low res clips we found online. We'll still use a lot of clips from the internet but will also have an assistant get permission and higher resolution copies of all the footage that was sampled.
The last one third will be spent on a software programmer to innovate collaborative editing on the internet. We'll use some brand new tools I've designed that will allow thousands of people to take notes and highlight thousands of hours of footage that no one individual could ever look at. Then the master editor will utilize this collective knowledge as he works closely with myself to edit the final documentary. At the end any tools or workflow we develop will be posted as open source software free for all to use. So think about how FireFox which is open source came in and did a much better job then Microsoft Explorer. Well I think that video editing could be done much better if it was built as open source software and I see these tools for this documentary as the beginning of that.
