ABOUT HOUSE OF CUCCI
EZAK
"House of Cucci is a safe, creative, beautiful and much needed community space that allowed me to be vulnerable, reflective and critical about how I engage around issues related to sexual health. During this training I engaged in many conversations that connected my REAL life sexual experiences while incorporating and being mindful of all the ways in which I identify (trans, genderqueer, Latino/Native American, queer, working class, child of a single mother on welfare...).
My experiences were validated and critiqued in a way that felt like the most healthy, safe and loving space I've ever been in. I felt I was able to grow and continue learning how to communicate my overall health needs, whether it's advocating for myself at a clinic, creating/learning new ways to negotiate my needs in regards to intimate relationships as well as having access to these tools. Conversations that challenged me to think about power, privilege and oppression and how sexual health justice is very much a part of the overall social justice movement."
ZUMI
"House of Cucci was a much needed space for me to enter more honest and open conversations about my own sexual health, and how it relates to the health of my life, and the larger communities im in. in many ways, it was a process that initiated me to love myself more consciously, and to start working through traumas/fears of sex that i hold with myself and others. i was challenged to reflect on my histories, my relationship with my body, and all the complicated pieces of sex. and damn, im just getting started. but definitely having the support of a community process, and of the individuals we built relationships with, made the scary process of looking at my sexual self, more nurturing and cared for. ill be working on it for my whole life, but it feels so amazing to have it be a collective option, as well as a solitude experience."

"House of Cucci was an amazing experience for me to begin to build community during a time when I felt isolated as a sex educator. I also had a lot of analyses that I was trying to explore, like what are my relationships to this work as someone committed to anti-oppression and anti-racism work, from a community health practitioner perspective? How do we keep pushing the limits of "sex positivity," and how do we make it relevant? How can sex educators begin to claim our stake in social justice organizing? How do we break out of white-women dominated sex education, and begin to hear more narratives from queer and trans of color communities?
BRENDA
"HoC was, for me, the first real opportunity i had to engage in conversations around sex outside of a reproductive framework. It was refreshing to come together with folx who were also excited about reframing the way we talk about sex especially within queer and poc communities. Having been raised in a fairly traditional Mexican home, i have struggled for many years to rid myself of the feelings of guilt and shame i was taught (both in direct and indirect ways) to associate with sex and sexual trauma. HoC allowed me to continue this journey of self liberation and exploration. It is an ever evolving process that i am grateful to have shared with folx navigating similar experiences."
The Impact
"Our diverse communities have a long history of health practices that have been ignored, disregarded and or forgotten about due colonialism, imperialism, white supremacy and heteropatriarchy.
We make sure that our parties and workshops are free for our communities simply because this work is necessary. We need to free ourselves and our communities from mainstream sex education and we need YOUR help to make House of Cucci continue to be FREE for the communities who need it most." -Ezak, Cucci Sex Educator
"HoC should continue to happen because it is truly a healing and empowering experience. Many of us have had very little sex education that was positive and attuned to our individual and unique needs/experiences and that was outside of the hetero-normative framework. Many of us aren't fully aware of how our past sexual experiences affect us in our everyday interactions. I believe whole-heartedly that this awareness and understanding allow us to be better engaged in any and all relationships. Positive and relevant sexual education contribute to our overall health and well-being and everyone should have access to this."
