'If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change."
Dr Wayne Dyer"

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
Mark Twain

"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."
Eleanor Roosevelt,

Ali is 15. Nothing works. School doesn't work, home doesn't work and everyone she loves is no longer there. Then she discovers an access to a place where all the answers can be found. Horizon. A place of dreams and metaphor and discovery. and ultimately freedom.

They say that we all have at least one book in us.
For many years, during my time as an artist for MARVEL COMICS and other publishers and while working in TV and Games I have had a story rattling around in my head that just won't go away. It has cropped up many times in many different forms for something like twenty years. The themes have always been the same even if the characters and story have changed. A number of times I have started it, mostly in collaboration with other writers. It never seemed to quite come together until finally somebody asked me why I didn't write it myself. That was the answer. Do it myself. I had always believed and been led to believe that I am not a writer. Artist , yes but writer, no. But why not? As I began to put together the framework and the plot and breathe life into the characters the story almost began to tell itself. And here we are. A project has come to life and all it really needs to take flight is an audience. This book will get published one way or another, that is for sure, but a little help and collaboration from its potential readers will give it wings.

So whats the story?
Ali is a 15 year old girl. An age in-between. An age where she isn't a child or an adult. An age of confusion. Bullied at school and after a row with her mother that she cant even remember the reason for she sits in her room. Alone. With that dark tension boiling in her gut again. Why is it like this? Why dont they ever listen?
The tears dry in her eyes and she grabs hold of the only thing she cares for from 'back then' and may even take with her into her future, her toy rabbit... and falls asleep.
BANG! Eyes wide open she is awake, or so she thinks. And then... The adventure begins.

We are then in a dream world interwoven with her daily life. It is within the dreamworld that the real story unfolds. Dreams are quite simply metaphor. It is in our dreams that we resolve issues about ourselves and our lives and Ali is no different. Only difference here is that she has a talking toy rabbit called Moon to guide her through the challenges that await her.
And what does she meet on the way? Well, all kinds of things, mostly VERY BIG ROBOTS. Ultimately though, she finds herself and that is the point. Her resolution is one we can all identify with as it deals with those very human issues of Love and Loss, Fear and Freedom and what becomes possible when we let go of the things about us that hold us back. Those ways of being, behaving and relating to our circumstances that stop us from being all we can be.

Why Horizon?
I have long been associated with comics as an artist and more specifically with robot comics. Well, TRANSFORMERS, to be specific. Many will know that one of my other interests is coaching. 'Self Development' if you will. It occurred to me that these two elements could be put together to provide something new and fresh within the graphic novel medium. My years of experience of participating in and training for Coaching, Dream therapy and Self Development is something that I committed to getting into a fictional narrative a while back. And this is going to be it. A gentle story about real people (with some really cool robots) that deals with what it is to be human the obstacles we put in the way of being all we can be. Dealing with and removing those barriers would make for an awesome life. There is no shortage of 'self help' books on the bookstore shelves for older readers but to have a graphic novel that is not not only racked with its fellow graphic novels but that also sat comfortably alongside Chopra, Dyer, Byrne, Robbins, McKenna, Tolle and the many others will be amazing. A powerful book for those that love a good adventure.

What We Need & What You Get
The book will be published. It is unlikely that it will be ready by the time this campaign expires but if you join in you will get constant updates as to when the launch will be. There has already been some interest from mainstream publishers but even if in the final analysis they choose not to take it I will publish it under my own PaperTheatre imprint. The funds raised here will act as seed money to cover some of the time that it will take to develop the book but also to cover some of the marketing costs. But its not necessarily about that. Its more to do with giving others the opportunity to be involved in the genesis of something new. A pre-order campaign that will allow you to be along for the ride and get your name forever in the book. Or to take up any of the other opportunities on offer here to order limited edition prints, deluxe format books and original artwork. The choice is yours. You can be involved as much as you like.

Take the plunge and be part of something that is not only exciting and new but that has the clear intention of making a difference to the lives of others.
Oh and did I mention. it will have BIG robots.

Other Ways You Can Help
There are other ways you can help with this. Put the word out. Enrol others in the idea. You dont have to 'sell' it to them just get their interest. Give them the opportunity to be involved in something new and exciting.

And don't forget to remind them about the share tools!

So there you have it. Welcome aboard
