Honolulu Arts Beat is Hawaii’s source for online arts community news and features. Since beginning in May of 2009 on Oahu, Arts Beat has expanded readership and voluntary contributors to include all the major islands of Hawaii. Arts Beat does not charge for announcements about local arts activity, but currently gets funding exclusively from on line ad providers such as Google and others. This plan has provided minimal funding (about $110 to date) while Arts Beat continues to run a large deficit (somewhere above $8,000 to date) assumed by its founders Ray and Julia Pace.
